Thanks to everyone who came out to see guitarist Dave Stryker at the New Tampa Performing Arts Center on April 25th. What a great finale for the 2025-26 Tampa Jazz Club season! (and for the "New Tampa Jazz Nights" series).

Dave's band featured longtime USF Jazz Studies Director (recently retired) Jack Wilkins on tenor saxophone, and USF’s Mark Neuenschwander on bass, with University of Central Florida's Per Danielsson on piano, and the acclaimed McClenty Hunter on drums (who also now teaches at UCF).

We've got big plans for next season, including TWO shows from multi Grammy-nominated composer Chuck Owen and a special July 1st performance from the award-winning pianist/composer Simon Lasky. A lot more shows to be announced.

Thanks to everyone who came out to see the USF Faculty Jazztet perform "Miles Davis Centennial-Birth of the Cool Tribute."

The concert was held April 19th at Hillsborough College's Main Stage Theatre in Ybor City.

The nonet was led by USF Jazz Studies trombonist Tom Brantley and featured trumpet player John Castleman. The USF Faculty Jazztet also includes Aaron West (alto saxophone), Ross Strauser (baritone saxophone), Lyndsie Wilson (French horn), Phil Beatty (tuba), Pablo Arencibia (piano), Mark Neuenschwander (bass), and David Rudolph (drums).

Such a treat to hear this groundbreaking 1949 Miles Davis album "Birth of the Cool," performed in its entiirey using the original arrangments. Tom read some of the production notes from arranger Gil Evans. Fascinating. Photos by Stephen Splane.

Our final concert for the Tampa Jazz Club season is renowned guitarist Dave Stryker performing this Saturday April 25th at 8pm at the New Tampa Performing Arts Center.
