Heads up if you are walking on Franklin Street outside the Tampa Convention Center! 🚧

There is a temporary work zone set up right outside our Franklin Entrance. Our crews have put together a modified, temporary sidewalk path so you can still get past the area, but please use caution as you make your way through.

This setup will be in place through June 4 to allow for the safe installation of an exciting new public art piece, commissioned by the City of Tampa Arts and Cultural Affairs Department.

We can't wait to unveil this new artwork with you soon! Thank you for your patience and understanding as we help bring more vibrant art to downtown Tampa.

Heads up, Downtown Tampa drivers: SOF Week returns May 18-22, 2026, including a road closure, increased traffic, and noise.

Here’s what you need to know to ensure a smooth commute:

🚧 Franklin Street will be closed outside the Tampa Convention Center from Channelside Dr. to Harbour Island (including the bridge) during these times:
• Mon-Thurs (May 18-21): 9:00 AM – 4:30 PM.
• Fri (May 22): 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM (Note: Northbound Franklin St., the Water St. intersection, and the Harbour Island Bridge will reopen at 1:00 PM).

🚗 Alternate route: Please use the Beneficial Drive Bridge (toward Sparkman Wharf and The Florida Aquarium).
Downtown will be busier than usual, especially Mon-Wed, so please allow extra time for travel.

🅿️ The Tampa Convention Center Parking Garage will be closed from Sun-Thurs (May 17-21). Please use the Pam Iorio or Fort Brooke parking garages instead.

📢 Military Demonstration: The capability demonstration takes place Wednesday, May 20, from noon to 1:00 PM. Expect loud noises along the waterfront on Tuesday and Wednesday during simulations.

This community favorite features U.S. Special Operations Forces and 10 partner nations showcasing the future of tactical innovation in a high-stakes, live simulation.

📍 Viewing Locations: Outside the Tampa Convention Center , Harbour Island, and Bayshore Boulevard.

Pro-Tips:
✅ Arrive Early: Space is first-come, first-served and will fill up fast!
✅ Traffic Advisory: Expect extra traffic in the Downtown area. Franklin Street by the convention center and the Harbour Island Bridge will be closed Mon-Fri during the daytime hours.
✅ Parking: TCC Parking Garage will be closed, use Pam Iorio or Fort Brooke garages.
✅ Expect Noise: Don’t be alarmed by loud noises, it’s all part of the demonstration.
