Hello folks! We are reviewing a number of factors to determine the best scheduling fit for the 2021 tournaments. Of course, these are challenging times to make solid commitments in our lives. Currently, and only at this moment, we feel the pandemic, political climate, and the promising, but not confirmed Covid-19 vaccination possibilities warrant a pause - FOR NOW. Careful consideration for public safety-at-large is of paramount concern. Notwithstanding the wavering uncertainty of individuals financial futures that could impact players affordability if we reach a National Lockdown in order to slow the spread or eradicate the virus by the vaccine. Our strategy has always been to allow EVERY type of player the ability to enjoy our tournaments. Inclusion of the masses is what we strive for. However, in our view, safety goes beyond just the players as we have volunteers, fans, family members, the general public, and increased bowling center staff to consider as well. At this time, we cannot, with certainty, release a date. We can however say that the tournaments WILL NOT be run on Superbowl Sunday or the week prior for the first time in decades for the Dot Ronnie, and since inception for the Sharon Halling event. Although we cannot disclose a definitive date, we can say that OUR TARGET IS THE LATTER PART OF MARCH.
Additionally, we will RUN BOTH OF THESE TOURNAMENTS ON THE SAME WEEKEND!!! (which is new for 2021).
And yes, we will also plan on running the MIXED DOUBLES event as well sometime in 2021!!
These target dates can change of course. We will be monitoring this and coordinating with Pinchasers-Midtown for an available weekend and to ensure safeguards and protocols are ready to go. I know we all want to plan participation, which partners, etc., but be assured we will have a final date before the end of November to allow participants scheduling adjustments.
A bit of additional news!.....we are in discussions and preliminary stages of reviving what was, and will be, the most coveted prize in Tampa Bay's history..............
The return of the TAMPA CITY MATCH PLAY CHAMPIONSHIPS for the summer of 2021! We are so excited about this legendary tournament for all players. Never heard of it? Just asked the "matured aged" folks for the details! A jewel that was so coveted and dates back to the 1950's and re-instituted in the 1990's by my late mother Cheryl Wilson.....stand by for further details in the future on these events.....
We are so thankful to all of our regular participants and hope that we can continue to build our events to set a standard we can marvel and enjoy for a long time to come. Thanks again everyone, and we will be in touch!
