If you’re looking for George Franco on New Year’s Eve in Tallapoosa… good luck keeping up with him. One minute he’s in the VIP Tent handing out autographed posters from our bands to lucky winners, then next he’s on stage, then on the livestream, then taking selfies, then back introducing the next act… we’re still not sure if there’s more than one of him.

From hosting the Kids Early Drop to calling in the final countdown, George is everywhere all night long, keeping the Possum Drop running like clockwork.

And this year marks his 10th New Year’s Eve as host of the Possum Drop! So if you spot him in the crowd, don’t be shy, wave him down, grab a selfie, and make sure to thank him for helping make the Possum Drop Number One in Georgia and Number Three in the Nation.

We want to send a big THANK YOU to Brad and Ericka from Palmetto, Florida for celebrating New Year’s Eve 2026 with us at the Possum Drop! This was their second year joining the celebration, after first ringing in 2025 right here in Tallapoosa. Like so many folks from across the country, they made the trip back again to be part of the fun, the tradition, and the excitement.

Visitors like Brad and Ericka are a huge part of what makes the Possum Drop so special. Tourism plays an essential role in supporting our local economy, and we are truly grateful for everyone who travels near and far to celebrate with us each year. We look forward to seeing familiar faces return and welcoming new ones as we continue this one-of-a-kind New Year’s Eve tradition!

A big ol’ THANK YOU to Teresa Baggett and Greg Wilson for holding down the Possum Drop T-Shirt Tent like pros. While Spencer was busy getting ready for his big midnight moment, Teresa and Greg were out there making sure folks stayed warm, stylish, and fully outfitted in official Possum Drop gear!

Year after year, they volunteer their time, keep the lines moving, and somehow manage to do it all with a smile. That’s no small feat when thousands of folks are trying to grab a shirt before the countdown!

🎉 Meet the Face Behind the Fun, Our Possum Drop Mascot!

For the past three years, the one and only Leslie Peters of Anderson, South Carolina has brought energy, spirit, and a whole lot of personality to the Possum Drop as our official mascot!

Like so many folks who come to Tallapoosa from all across the country, Leslie attended once… and was instantly hooked. Since then, it’s become a yearly tradition, not just to attend, but to jump right in and be part of what makes this celebration so special.

When Leslie’s not hyping up the crowd and helping us ring in the New Year, she’s hard at work as co-owner of Boger & Peters Law Firm, specializing in Real Estate Law. So if you’re in the Anderson, SC area and need trusted legal guidance, she’s someone you’ll definitely want on your side.

We’re proud to have Leslie as part of the Possum Drop family and we can’t wait to see her back in action this New Year’s Eve to Ring In 2027!
