ail running experience “where the mountains meet the sky” showcasing the beauty of Lake Tahoe. Designed in the vein of classic European Skyraces, the Broken Arrow Skyrace represents a unique style of mountain running, characterized by off-trail scrambling on steep terrain with massive amounts of vertical gain and loss at altitude....with exposure, hand lines, a ladder and snow slopes thrown in for good measure! We are proud to be part of the World Mountain Running Association World Cup and Golden Trail Series National Championships.

Built for the Terrain: Why Footcare and Preparation Matter

At the Broken Arrow Skyrace, every step matters. Steep granite climbs, technical descents, loose terrain — our course asks a lot of your body, and your feet take the brunt of it.

Trail running is constant adaptation. Your feet are making micro-adjustments with every stride, navigating uneven surfaces, absorbing elevation changes, and grinding through long descents. Without the right support, it catches up fast — more fatigue, less stability on technical sections, and a much higher chance of blisters ruining your day.

That's where our partners at come in. Their insoles are built for exactly this kind of terrain. Targeted cushioning for repeated impact. Arch-specific support to fight fatigue over distance. Better stability when the footing gets sketchy. And one thing runners tend to underestimate: improved grip inside the shoe, which cuts down on the friction and foot movement that lead to hot spots and blisters mile after mile.

The best part? You don't have to guess what works for you. Sidas will be on-site at the Broken Arrow expo, offering custom insole fittings all weekend - at a steep discount. Stop by their booth, get your arch assessed, and walk away with insoles shaped to your feet — dialed in before you even hit the start line. It's one of the easiest upgrades you can make to your race setup.

Because every foot is different, Sidas designs their insoles around arch type — helping create a more natural stride and more even pressure distribution. When your foundation is solid, everything else clicks into place.

Whether you're chasing a podium or just chasing the feeling of being deep in the mountains, your feet are your connection to the trail. Take care of them!

RUNNERS! TELL US HOW TO ANNOUNCE YOUR ROCKSTAR FINISH!

By now, you've put in the miles. You've earned every single step to make it to our start line. The start line isn't the beginning — it's the reward for every sacrifice, every setback, and every moment you chose to keep going during your Broken Arrow training.

And when you finally hit our 200-foot finish line chute — we want the world to know exactly who is coming through.

If you've been to Broken Arrow before, you know this is our thing. Whether you finish first or last, you are a rockstar, and we treat every single finisher like one. Our announcer will call out your name, where you're from, and some fun details about YOU as you cruise those final steps and ring the bell.

This is your moment and we want to make it unforgettable.

But we need your help to make it happen!

Please take two minutes to fill out our finisher survey so we can give you the personalized, white-glove send-off you deserve. Tell us who you are, where you're from, who's cheering for you, what got you to this start line — whatever you want the crowd to hear as you cross that line.

Because those last 200 feet? They belong to you.

We are very excited to announce our continued partnership with the Official Hydration Supplier of the Broken Arrow Skyrace.

Founded in 1996 and headquartered in Oakland, California, HydraPak has spent over 20 years designing performance hydration systems to help athletes reach their peak. What started as a hydration backpack company evolved into the industry's go-to hydration specialist, now serving as a partner for over 120 brands.

As the Official Hydration Supplier of the Broken Arrow Skyrace, HydraPak's reputation has been earned on dusty desert trails and frigid mountain peaks. Their products are purpose-built for exactly the kind of extreme, high-alpine terrain Broken Arrow is known for — from the SkyFlask and Tempo handhelds now common among endurance runners, to integrated filtration systems that let athletes refill from backcountry water sources.

Our personal favorite is the the SoftFlask 150ml. Designed for easy fueling, this holds up to four gel servings and has a Gel Nozzle that delivers fuel quickly and prevents leaks.

Whether you’re replacing an old flask, upgrading your gear, or adding an extra hydration solution, HydraPak’s Flask Fit Finder helps you select the perfect flask for your setup.

Beyond gear, HydraPak is helping keep our trails clean. Hydrapak has generously donated a branded Broken Arrow SpeedCup for every runner in the event, part of a cupless racing movement that has helped over 80% of west coast trail races eliminate single-use cups. You will find these SpeedCups at packet pickup, and it is your responsibility to bring them with you on race day!

Whether you're toeing the line at the 11K or grinding through the 46K, HydraPak is there to keep you hydrated — from aid station to summit.

To celebrate this ongoing partnership, and as part of our Race Ready lineup, we are offering select Hydrapak items at a 20% discount via using your designated discount code to save! No fueling strategy is the same–that’s why we’ve designed a variety of performance offerings for you.

Find your ideal setup before race day and let us know if we can help.

Science first. Neversecond. We're excited to announce that .second is once again the Official Gel & Bar Partner of the 2026 Broken Arrow Skyrace.

Neversecond was built by endurance athletes and one of the world's leading sports scientists, Dr. Asker Jeukendrup, with a simple mission: give athletes what science has proven they need — nothing more, nothing less. Their products use an optimized glucose-to-fructose ratio for fast absorption and minimal GI distress, and everything is Informed Sport certified.

For our runners, this means three flavors of Neversecond C30 gels (Unflavored, Berry, and caffeinated Cola) at every aid station across all distances, even the Ascent, which gets a new nutrition station at KT-22.

Each C30 gel delivers exactly 30g of carbs in an easy-to-take isotonic formula that works with or without water, which matters when you're scrambling up the Headwall Ridge and can't reach for a bottle. And if you are a 23k and/or 46k runner, you'll receive a C30 Fuel Bar at packet pickup.

We encourage you to test Neversecond products before race weekend so you know exactly how they work for you. All registered runners can take advantage of our 20% Race Ready discount code (available in our latest email to you) to shop Neversecond (and other gear) through our retail partner

Whether you finish first or last, YOU are a rockstar — and you deserve fuel that works as hard as you do.

It is no secret that The Broken Arrow Skyrace is an event that must be experienced to be believed.

However, it's not possible for everyone in the trail running world to gather and enjoy the event each year. Which is why we are extremely grateful for the media coverage our event achieves year on year, helping to celebrate and share the Stoke.

With this in mind, we take our media access policy very seriously.
All media representatives who wish to cover the Broken Arrow Skyrace must apply for media accreditation prior to the event. Media accreditation is granted at the sole discretion of the organizers and may be revoked at any time for any reason. If you are coming with a team, please note that EVERY member is required to possess accreditation.

Realize that any lack of cooperation can lead to your runner being disqualified.
The general public is not eligible for media accreditation at the Broken Arrow Skyrace.

Media accreditation will be granted by June 11th, 2026 and all eligible parties will be notified via email, whereby a legally binding contract is required. If accredited, you will receive further instructions in regards to race weekend, including where to pickup your badge, the date and time of the MANDATORY media gathering, a designated course map containing all associated content capture zones, and more.

The deadline for submission is June 10th, 2026 by 12pm PST.

Our Media policy, is available via our link in bio.

Please take time to read it and ensure all members of your team apply.

05/11/2026

With the addition of Trail Futures NTN to the 2026 Broken Arrow Skyrace and the introduction of 23K wave starts, we've made the decision to change our event start times, as follows.

Updated 2026 START TIMES:
Ascent: moves to 8am Fri 6/19
18k: moves to 10am Fri 6/19
23k: moves to 8am Sun 6/21
Kid’s: moves to 830am Sun 6/21

The reason is straightforward. Friday now features FIVE races instead of two, and our safety marshals and course operations teams need the ability to focus on individual distances rather than being pulled in too many directions across technical, high-alpine terrain. Moving the morning races earlier creates clear separation from the Trail Futures NTN races in the afternoon, giving our teams time to reset, reposition, and prepare the mountain for the next generation of athletes heading out.

There's a runner safety benefit as well. A 10:00 AM start gets 18K athletes through the most exposed sections of the course before the hottest part of the day. In what's shaping up to be a particularly hot year, that matters.

The earlier start for the 23K is straightforward. With the addition of waves — a first for us — the effective length of the race day increases, necessitating an earlier start for aid station and volunteer preparations. This in turn shifts the Kid's Race to an 8:30 AM start.

Every Broken Arrow runner — whether they're a 23K veteran or a Trail Futures NTN athlete ringing the bell for the first time — deserves our full operational focus. This schedule makes that possible. Having said that, we realize this might complicate the day for some of our runners, and for that we apologize. Hopefully you can understand our reasoning - a desire to laser-focus on runner safety and experience.

Trail Futures NTN Age Group Update:
We've refined the Trail Futures NTN age structure from U-20 and U-14 to U-18 and U-14, better reflecting middle school and high school runners.
Runners 17 and under will compete for U-18 Eagle titles; runners 18–19 will race the same course in their own separate age group. Beginning in 2027, Trail Futures NTN will be strictly U-18 and U-14. Runners 18 and older will compete in the adult Broken Arrow Skyrace distances.
