A look back at Cherokee Nation Principal Chief Chuck Hoskin Jr.’s eighth and final State of the Nation address during the 74th annual Cherokee National Holiday.

During his address, Chief Hoskin announced a proposal to make the Artist Recovery Act permanent through a new Artist Resiliency Act. He highlighted the ARA’s impact on Cherokee artists and the broader cultural renaissance across the Cherokee Nation, including increased opportunities for artists, more Cherokee artwork in public spaces and the creation of the Ani Art Center in Stilwell.

A look back at Cherokee Nation Principal Chief Chuck Hoskin Jr.'s eighth and final State of the Nation address during the 74th annual Cherokee National Holiday . During his speech, Chief Hoskin announced new initiatives to revitalize our language and culture. Alongside the grand opening of the new Immersion Middle School, Chief Hoskin also nominated Howard Paden as Cherokee Nation’s first Secretary of Language and Culture. Our immersion school is now fully in the hands of the Cherokee people, and we’re not done growing yet!

A look back at Cherokee Nation Principal Chief Chuck Hoskin Jr.'s eighth and final State of the Nation address during the 74th annual Cherokee National Holiday. During his speech, Chief Hoskin discussed the importance of making childcare more affordable. We’ve already made the largest childcare investment in Cherokee Nation history with initiatives brought forth by Cherokee Nation First Lady January Hoskin who holds childcare near and dear to her heart. With that, Chief Hoskin announced pursuing three new ideas:

➡️ To build new Child Development Centers!

➡️ To invest $1 million annually to provide grants to Cherokee citizens for childcare startups, expansions, and improvements within our reservation!

➡️ To help working families by expanding the hours of our Head Start centers!
