Our hearts are incredibly full after Thursday night’s membership spaghetti dinner at the Taft Historic Fort! Because of your immense generosity, we are steps closer to preserving our historic 1940’s adobe home.

A massive thank you to:

Our wonderful board members for their endless hard work behind the scenes. DeAnna Jacobs, Jan Ashley, Linda Deckert, Margie Burell, Orchel Krier, Vahnita Ho**er, Lisa Wilhelm, Randy Miller, Jackie Peavyhouse, and David Ahumada.

The fantastic local dessert vendors who made the evening so incredibly sweet. Mi Casita, Chadra’s Creations, Bombshell Sweets, and Lexi’s Bake Shop.

The amazing volunteers who stepped up and served our community with the biggest smiles. Angel, Amie, Makiah, Hana, and Kaelynne.

To everyone who donated and officially became a member: our sincere gratitude. Your support keeps our history alive.

This Memorial Day, our grounds are flying the red, white, and blue to remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. The property is open for anyone who wishes to come by, reflect, and pay their respects.

We want to fill our community page with service member’s names, faces, and stories. If you would like to participate in our virtual Memorial Wall, here is how you can share your tribute with us this weekend:
🇺🇸 Visit the The Fort: Come down to the property to see the flag display.
🇺🇸 Take a Photo Tribute: Bring a photograph of your loved one, or write their name on a card, and take a photo holding it up against the backdrop of the flags.
🇺🇸 Share Their Story: Post your photo in the comments below, along with their name, rank, or a favorite memory.

Wishing you all a meaningful, safe, and reflective Memorial Day weekend.

Community in Motion

A sincere thank you to the amazing groups of volunteers who spent their time this past week revitalizing our grounds. Landscaping is a vital piece of our 2026 preservation goals. Every path cleared helps restore the heart of this beloved landmark.

The Taft Midway Driller wrote an article about our volunteers. Check out the comments below for the link to the story.

Want to get involved? Come to the Spaghetti Dinner on May 21 to sign up for membership or learn about other volunteer opportunities.

We want to extend a very special thank you to Paul Linder! Paul recently came out and donated his time and equipment to replace the cable on our flagpole. Because of his generosity, our flag will be flying high again soon. 🇺🇸

Paul's hard work is a perfect example of what it means to be a 'Friend of the Fort.' It takes a village to keep our 86-year-old monument refreshed and thriving. Whether it's donating time, equipment, or expertise in the trades, every little bit helps preserve this space for our community. Thank you, Paul, for leading by example!
