Lake Superior Chainsaw Sculpture Championship

With the summer kicking off we thought this would be a good time to let our friends and followers know that the 2020 Lake Superior Chainsaw Sculpture Championship has been cancelled.

Preparing for a quality event requires months of planning and securing long-range commitments from carvers, judges, volunteers and sponsors. We were well underway in planning while things became increasingly unpredictable. So after careful consideration of the uncertainties that lie ahead related to COVID-19 restrictions (travel, gathering sizes, etc.) cancelling became the most responsible decision. Not a decision we took lightly.

We appreciate the support and enthusiasm you shown for LSCSC and hope to be back again. Bigger, Better. Bolder.

What a great weekend at the 8th US Open Chainsaw Sculpture Championship. It is a treat to see such an incredibly talented group of artistry gathered together in one space.

The Bennett Volunteer Fire Dept is an important and valued part of our community. Some of these dedicated folks also volunteered at last August’s inaugural LSCSC event. The 2019 U.S. Open Chainsaw Sculpture Championships is less than three weeks away. A talented pool of carvers from around the globe are competing. Seven countries, including the US, are represented: Australia, Germany, Ireland, Japan, Lithuania and Wales, along with carvers from Alabama, Minnesota and Tennessee.

The Competition Carvers line-up has been set for the 2019 US Open Chainsaw Sculpture Championship August 1-4 in Eau Claire, Wisc.

Competitive carvers include Lake Superior Chainsaw Sculpture competitors: 2018 Champion Chris Kuehn; 2nd place finisher Takao Hayashi, 3rd place finisher Steven Higgins and competitive carvers Hikaru Kodama and John Hayes.
