The Round Canopy Parachuting Team - USA recently traveled to Normandy, France, to commemorate the 82nd Anniversary of D-Day. Alongside fellow team members from across the United States and around the world, they participated in memorial ceremonies, school visits, community events, and historic round canopy parachute jumps from iconic C-47 aircraft, honoring the brave Allied soldiers who fought to preserve freedom.

We are especially honored that the team carried a Huntington Beach flag during one of their commemorative jumps over Normandy, connecting our community to one of the most significant moments in world history.

Please join us in welcoming the Round Canopy Parachuting Team - USA to the 122nd Huntington Beach 4th of July Parade, where they will help us celebrate America’s 250th Birthday and pay tribute to the courage, sacrifice, and legacy of the Greatest Generation.

Main Street Parade Route Decorating Contest
Open to homes along the parade route from the 600 Block of Main Street to 17th Street.

- Decorate your home in this year's theme: America 250
- Win great prizes, including reserved parade viewing tickets, gift cards, and special awards!
- Judging takes place on Friday, July 3, from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
- Awards will be presented beginning at 3:00 PM

The Huntington Beach Independence Day Celebration is proud to welcome surfing legend and pioneer Peter “PT” Townend!

Born and raised in Coolangatta, Australia, PT helped shape modern professional surfing as we know it today. From dominating the Australian surf scene in the 1970s alongside rival Michael Peterson, to becoming the very first IPS World Pro Surfing Champion in 1976, PT’s impact on the sport is legendary.

A member of the iconic “Bustin’ Down the Door” generation, founder of the Bronzed Aussies, stunt double in the cult surf classic Big Wednesday, world-class coach, broadcaster, and industry leader — PT’s contributions to surfing span generations.

Today, PT continues to make a lasting impact right here in Surf City USA as Executive Director of the International Surfing Museum while serving on numerous boards supporting surfing, tourism, conservation, and the Huntington Beach community.
