JAFCO’s mission is to care for abused, neglected and at-risk children as well as those with developmental disabilities in the Jewish community and to work in partnership with families and the entire community. As we light the Chanukah candles this year, we do so in a world that feels especially heavy. Recent acts around the globe remind us how fragile life can be, and how deeply we need connection and community.

Chanukah teaches us that even the smallest light can push back great darkness. At JAFCO, we are fortunate to witness that truth every day in the courage, laughter, and resilience of the children we are privileged to support and care for. These moments, often quiet and unseen, are the miracles that sustain us.

The JAFCO Board of Directors is pleased to announce it has appointed Dr. Justin Kohlhagen to lead our organization following the departure of Matt Levin, who helped guide JAFCO through a transitional period.

Dr. Kohlhagen has been with JAFCO for nearly a decade, including the past five years as Executive Director of the Children’s Village and the Children’s Ability Center. He has demonstrated outstanding leadership, compassion, and dedication throughout his tenure. With Justin at the helm in his new role as Executive Director of the entire organization, we are confident that JAFCO’s unique culture will continue to thrive and that the agency will remain fully equipped to provide essential services to the children we serve—both now and in the future.
