We are so thankful to see some progress on the new roof for the Peacock Palazzo!

Things have to get worse before they get better, and right now the crew is waiting for a lift to arrive to continue taking the old roof off.

Things will then be reframed, new decking and water shield put on, and new shingles installed!

We are grateful for nice weather in the forecast to keep things dry as they continue working on moving this forward!

Shingles for the new roof are on-site! We are so excited for this big step in the restoration of the Peacock Palazzo! ...

✨️Exciting progress for the Peacock Palazzo!✨️

Yesterday we had the pleasure of choosing shingles for the new roof! As with all of our design choices, we wanted to honor and lean into the original construction and design to revive the historic charm of these properties.

In the 1890s it was common for residences to be roofed with cedar shake, which were slabs of cedar wood layered in such a way that rain water would run down over them similar to modern shingles.

Cedar wood is a natural brown with warm undertones, so "Desert Shake" was an easy choice for shingle color!

Keep your eyes open in the coming couple of weeks as our crews begin the hard work of removing the old roof, reframing, and putting on the new roof and shingles!

Two years ago, we took a leap of faith and officially started First & Main. Purchasing 130 Main St. was more than just buying a property—it was planting the seed for a dream that had been on our hearts for so long.

What started as vision boards, late-night conversations, and big ideas has slowly turned into something real. And while it’s easy to look at where we are today and feel proud, what stands out most is every single step it took to get here.

Building a business from the ground up is not for the faint of heart. It’s long days, hard decisions, constant learning, and showing up even when things feel uncertain. It’s choosing to keep going, even when the finish line still feels far away.

But step by step, piece by piece, we are getting closer.

Closer to opening the gates.
Closer to welcoming guests.
Closer to seeing First & Main Estate come to life in the way we’ve always imagined.

And we truly could not have done it without the incredible support of the Sunfield community. Your encouragement, your belief in us, and your willingness to show up and support our dream has meant everything. You’ve played such a huge role in helping us get to where we are today.

This journey is far from over—but if the last two years have taught us anything, it’s that the small steps, the hard work, and the community around you make all the difference.

Here’s to dreaming big, working hard, and continuing to build something really special 🤍

✨️OUR FAVORITE TRANSFORMATION YET✨️

There were so many reasons we fell in love with this property, but the upstairs of the house was one that immediately took our breath away. As creatives it was easy for us to see the vision here; the beautiful potential for three gorgeous light-flooded bedrooms and a spacious getting ready room for the Bride and her bridesmaids. We saw the tall ceilings and big window in the hallway and envisioned stunning bridal portraits. We saw it all so clearly.

The people we showed the property to? They didn't see it. They saw the trash, mold, animal f***s, and water damage. They couldn't see beyond what was glaring to see what was hidden beneath; the natural light pouring in through extra large windows, the beautiful hardwood floors just waiting to be refinished, or the peeling antique wallpaper peeking through under layers of paint just hoping to be replicated and reapplied.

We saw it, and we fell in love.

We hope that these before and after videos will bring to light the visions we have for this space and how truly special and beautiful it will be.

From the original 1890's staircase and banister to the hand-sawn floors we can't wait to restore this space to its former glory for our couples and their overnight guests to enjoy.

Updates to the upstairs include:

🔜 new roof so the water will stop making its way in
🔜 removing all drywall and plaster/lath
🔜 refinishing/repairing the hardwood floors
🔜 refinishing and replication of the original wood trim
🔜 raising the original banister to a higher height to meet code
🔜 new drywall and wallpaper
🔜 antique inspired lighting
🔜 new windows
🔜 authentic antique furniture for 3 bedrooms
🔜 four lighted vanities and counters for the getting ready room

The restoration journey is right around the corner, and we are glad you're following along to see it come to life!

✨️🖤🤍 The kitchen is cleaned out🤍🖤✨️

This little kitchen has always been somewhat of a mystery to us; it was so full of debris that we couldn't actually see the whole thing very well nor walk into the room.

Now we can see the potential it has to be the charming little space it soon will be!

We plan to keep the original layout and design as an homage to the generations of women before us who have lovingly cooked meals here. It's fun to imagine the space when Edna (Griswold) Peacock would have moved into her freshly built home in the late 1890s with her husband Dr. Rollie Peacock. With a home of this magnitude at that time we can only imaging that she likely had a full kitchen with the most modern and luxurious appliances for the time, big cupboards for her fine China, and probably even their own ice box right in the house. More recently Blanche Foltz used this kitchen in the mid to second half of the twentieth century. We've heard stories from her granddaughter of being a little girl and sitting in that room having cinnamon toast with grandma - these are the memories that we are working hard to preserve and bring back to life!

Lots of work is ahead to get this kitchen cinnamon-toast-ready again:

🔜 remove the cabinets (too water damaged and moldy to save), old appliances, and linoleum flooring
🔜 demo all drywall from the walls and ceiling
🔜 updated electric and plumbing
🔜 new drywall
🔜 new vintage-inspired cabinets, or reclaimed authentic ones if we can find them in the proper size
🔜 antique-inspired tile floor to match the dining room
🔜 tile backsplash
🔜 new appliances designed to look like antiques
🔜 beautiful wallpaper and paint
🔜 pretty vintage overhead lighting

We can't wait for couples and their overnight guests to be able to utilize this beautiful space to prepare meals on their wedding weekend!

Another day, another amazing clean up before and after!

The Junk Side dropped our jaws again, this time in the future Benjamin Calvin honeymoon suite!

What will happen in this room:

🔜 rip out the carpet
🔜 tear out the rear wall to expand the room's size
🔜 remove all drywall to the studs on the walls and ceiling
🔜 add French doors to the yard where one of the windows is
🔜 frame the new rear wall with a doorway to the en-suite bathroom, which will be located in the new addition
🔜 updated electric installed
🔜 refinish floors
🔜 new drywall
🔜 classic antique-inspired wallpaper
🔜 hang vintage overhead light fixture

This room is going to be a beautiful and special one; where couples can spend their first night married after their wedding. Nothing is more convenient than dancing the night away as late as you want and then literally walking straight into your accommodations - no ride share service, no waiting for a car or tracking down the DD to give you a ride. Sleep the night away on luxury bedding, and wake up to the sound of birds chirping in the 75+ year old maple trees right outside your window. Brew up a fresh espresso or coffee and step outside through the French doors to a private bistro table and chairs in the yard to start a slow, peaceful morning as a married couple 🤍

Every detail of this project has been carefully curated with our couples in mind. From start to finish we have thought through every aspect of what could make your wedding experience convenient, comfortable, and memorable.

We can't wait to start hosting our amazing future couples here in the Benjamin Calvin Suite!

Today we celebrate International Women’s Day — a day to honor the strength, resilience, and achievements of women across the world and in every industry.

From entrepreneurs and business owners to creatives, leaders, and community builders, women continue to inspire, innovate, and uplift those around them. We are especially proud to stand alongside so many incredible women in business who are chasing dreams, building brands, and supporting one another along the way.

At First & Main Events, being a women-owned business is something we carry with deep pride. The values that guide us today — leadership, creativity, collaboration, and community — were shaped long before we started this company.

As former Girl Scouts, we learned early on the importance of confidence, service, teamwork, and believing that girls can do anything they set their minds to. Those lessons helped shape the women and entrepreneurs we are today.

We are grateful to be part of a community filled with inspiring women and proud to continue building a business that celebrates creativity, connection, and empowerment.

Here’s to strong women.
May we know them.
May we support them.
May we be them. 💛

👏🏼 Who is ready for a before and after?! 👏🏼

We are so thankful to have The Junk Side on our team working SO hard to remove all of the moldy, broken, and water damaged junk from the future Peacock Palazzo!

Check out how much better (and bigger!) the front porch looks after clean up!

Ultimately this porch will be removed and rebuilt as an old fashioned open-air porch, but each step forward is an important one in the big picture!

Thank you Gabriel and Max of Junk Side for your hard work today!
