Always an honor when one of our West Virginia Gold Star Mothers drops in the Quality Inn - Summersville, West Virginia for a visit.

Vicki Ashley-Matics and Andy Matics stopped by last Friday to visit for a few while waiting on thier bus ride to transport them the 19th annual Mountain Man Memorial March in Tennessee.

One of the West Virginia Gold Star Mothers Bridge Ride long time participants Rj Raye participated in this event for the third time to honor MM2 Joseph Joey Ashley who was taken from us on January 9, 2005 while aboard the USS San Francisco.

We had a great time last night at The Tractor Bar last night with our friends. Great food, great giveaways, a 50-50 and lots of new folks came out

We also learned about two epic West Virginia events coming again in 2026.

A special shout out goes to Valkyries Ladies Club and the West Virginia Department American Legion Riders for braving the weather to be with us!

We will be at the The Tractor Bar tomorrow night (November 7th) at 6 PM as we join our friends from the The W.V. Hellbender to discuss two of West Virginia's largest bike events scheduled for 2026.

Both events work diligently to support West Virginia Veterans. There will be plenty of giveaways from 6 PM to 8 PM so ya'll plan on stopping by!

We are proud to share the release of our new Remembrance Video, a tribute to the sons and daughters of West Virginia who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. This video is a heartfelt expression of our gratitude, our respect, and our enduring promise to never forget.

At the heart of this tribute is our deep commitment to the West Virginia Gold Star Mothers—the mothers and families who have borne the unimaginable cost of freedom. Their strength, courage, and unwavering dedication to the memory of their loved ones continue to inspire us every day.

This video was created not only as a memorial but as a reaffirmation of our pledge to honor the 65 fallen, say their names, remember their legacies, and support their families.

Please Share Our Post!

On September 7th, the West Virginia Bridge Ride Board of Directors regretfully announced that the 2025 Bridge Ride event had been postponed due to unforeseen circumstances. Please note any registration fees paid will be credited towards Bridge Ride 26 unless you request a refund.

While this year's event will not take place, we are excited to share that planning is already underway for an incredible 2026 Bridge Ride.

Please note: On October 11th there will be a reading of the 65 names at the WV Gold Star Mothers orchard across the street from The Tractor Bar in Mt. Nebo. This is a separate event not organized or affiliated in any way with our Board of Directors, but we fully support this meaningful moment.

We truly appreciate your continued encouragement and support, and we invite you to follow our page closely as we begin to unveil exciting details not only about the 2026 West Virginia Gold Star Mothers Bridge Ride but some exciting things coming very soon to benefit the West Virginia Gold Star Mothers.

Urgent Message, please share!!

With mixed emotions, the Board of Directors of the WV Bridge Ride has made the difficult decision and voted to postpone the 4th Annual West Virginia Bridge Ride scheduled for October 11, 2025.

This decision comes in light of the recent passing of our beloved President, Terry Souther Cunningham, on July 9th, and an unexpected health setback experienced by our Vice President, Paul Witt.

Terry was not only a passionate leader but also the heart of our organization. Her dedication and vision helped shape the WV Bridge Ride into the meaningful event it is today. Her absence is deeply felt, and we honor her legacy by taking the time needed to heal and regroup to ensure another memorable event.

We appreciate your understanding and continued support during this time. More information regarding the rescheduling of the event will be shared in the coming days.
