Steel Bridge Songfest is an annual volunteer community event produced by the Steel Bridge Creative Foundation (previously CfOB) and is the only songwriter festival of its kind in the world. Preceded by a 4-day songwriting marathon, the celebration is designed to promote community awareness, enrich the local economy, and to champion historic preservation through the use of artistic expression and e

xperience. We also raise awareness through CD compilations of original songs written and inspired by the bridge, and through volunteer public performances.

*** CONSTRUCTION ZONE & CD PROJECT ***
The Construction Zone is an intensive, collaborative week-long songwriting marathon for professional and aspiring songwriters, to create songs inspired by our local surroundings, particularly our historic Steel Bridge. The collaborative process allows the individual artist to expand techniques, network with other artists, and offers a learning experience of all aspects of the creative process including recording and engineering. The marathon culminates in public performances of the fresh new works. The Artists donate the recorded music to the SBCF effort and a compilation CD is created (ie; Steel Bridge Songs). The recording process also engages national technicians in working with aspiring regional recording engineers and sound technicians for a hands-on learning experience.

We are TWO WEEKS (Sunday, June 14th) away from the premiere screening of 2017 pat mAcdonald Concert film!!

DCA presents the premiere of a concert film featuring pat mAcdonald, his songs, and a host of other artists—a film that was originally shot at DCA, back in 2017. That year, 46 artists gathered to present 37 songs by mAcdonald, the prolific songwriter’s songwriter who has been nominated for a Grammy, written a Billboard hit song, founded Steel Bridge Songfest, and lives right here in Door County. In the filmed concert, musicians including James Hall, Eric McFadden, Genevieve Heyward, Cathy Grier, Ruby James, Dirty Deuce, and dozens more take the stage for an electric evening of friendship, homage, and rock and roll.

🎤 SONGWRITER SPOTLIGHT: Barrett Tasky 🎶

A longtime member of the Steel Bridge community, Barrett Tasky returns to Steel Bridge Day with the genre-blending musicianship, collaborative spirit, and infectious energy that have made him a festival favorite over the years.

Often described as a “swiss-army knife of music,” Barrett is a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, audio engineer, and performer whose sound weaves together Americana, folk, bluegrass, funk, jam, jazz, and more. There is always an element of surprise and a whole lot of soul.

This year, Barrett is also serving as Steel Bridge Day’s official Artist Liaison, helping lead artist coordination, production, and event planning behind the scenes. Not only will he be performing, he’s also an integral part of the creative team helping bring SBD 2026 to life. 🌉✨

A longtime part of the Steel Bridge and Holiday Music Motel songwriting community, Rick Wood returns with the sharp songwriting, offbeat humor, and creative spirit that have made him an SBD favorite over the years.

A writer, musician, recording engineer, and occasional stand-up comedian, Rick has gone from Chicago folk clubs to Los Angeles writers’ rooms. He has collaborated with artists through the Holiday Music Motel sessions and worked with MTV’s "Ridiculousness" along the way.

“DOUR HOUR”
6-7 pm, Monday, May 18 thru Saturday May 23
at the Tambourine Lounge in front of the glitter fireplace. A totally different set of songs each night for 6 nights (70+ songs total) for whoever happens to drop in. No cover charge. Free junk snacks and weak drinks (mocktails, non-alcoholic). Tips accepted and we’ll raffle off a piece of my past: a boombox exactly like the Timbuk3 “jambox” that currently resides in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Museum in Cleveland, Ohio. All proceeds benefit the Steel Bridge Creative Foundation. ♥️
