Project: Outpost Airsoft

Project: Outpost Airsoft Outpost Airsoft is a project in the works that will rebuild the old War Den Airsoft field (Stonecreek location) that ran from 2013-2019.

This field will be under entirely new management and under a new name.

Within the next week I will be releasing a timeline of goals I hope to achieve before "opening day".

I keep going back and forth on how the field will actually operate (privately as an "airsoft club" or as a legitimate field) and I'd say there is a small chance by the end of next year there will be a legitimate field out there. Regardless, for most of the season the field will most definitely operate as invite only and with minimal, if any, amenities. The only thing I can promise is that there will be a field in which you can play airsoft.

After doing some thinking, I think the best way to provide a field to fill the gap that the Airsoft Den is leaving behind, is to open a private field.

I do not have the knowledge or the time to run a business currently, but I have a long term goal to remedy that in the future.

Here is the short term plan: The old field will be restored to the best possible condition that I and whoever else volunteers can accomplish. Private games will be held there, following a similar schedule to Airsoft Den (1st and 3rd Saturdays in the spring/summer/fall). These events will have very little official staff of any kind, they will be invite only, and there will be no store. However, if we manage to get an average of 30 people every weekend I may consider ordering ammo online and sell for like $1 more just to help cover the costs. We will follow similar rules to Airsoft Den, including minimum engagement distances, chrono limits, and general field rules. There will still be a professional safety briefing and there will be some "refs", although most likely in game refs. First aid will be available onsite as well. I can also provide a battery charging station. These "private" events will be completely free, but because of the way things are going to be ran I'd prefer if we cap the age limit at probably 16 and over. They will be completely "play at your own risk" and there will be a heavy emphasis on "invite only". These games will not be open to the general public, they will not be advertised. We will run these for one year. By the end of it, I hope to have attracted someone who's interested in running a sanctioned field or I will have decided to do it myself.

I'm still spitballing ideas here, so all of this is subject to change at anytime and without notice. I'd like to begin work immediately, but we will wait until the Airsoft Den officially closes its doors on October 19th. Workdays will be scheduled either the following weekend or the first weekend of Novemeber and we will schedule them until the weather forces us to stop.

Spread the word.

It's been awhile.

With the closure of the Airsoft Den, and the owners' decision to not continue at a different location, I feel like now would be a good time to pull one final trick out from the ol' playbook.

A lot has changed since this project was first conceived, and I don't know if we can pull it off even today, but I feel like I'd be doing the airsoft community of Ohio a great disservice if we didn't at least give it one more shot.

Stay tuned.

Nothing serious to report.

I will say, however, the LLC will likely be filed this month. With that being said, we can begin to move forward with official, scheduled workdays as soon as the LLC is done.

We recieved our first donation on GoFundMe today - a whopping $50, and that is something I never expected! I am glad to see there is a huge interest in what we are doing. We are eternally greatful for our first donator, and I hope we deliever a product that you feel was worth it.

As I have said before, if nothing comes of any of this, I WILL be refunding all donators (most likely through PayPal).

Picture is entirely unrelated.

Expect radio silence from us in the coming weeks. With the holidays coming up and lots of other hobbies bearing down on us, no new updates are likely to come until the new year.

Once I get my personal finances and taxes straightened out, we can begin with the next part of the plan: securing an LLC. Workdays will likely be posted sometime in 2022, weather permitting.

But until then, see you on the other side.

Merry Christmas!

A test run of the field was made this past Saturday.

Unfortunately, we got about one game in before we were stormed out.

More private events will be posted in the coming weeks, you will know if you're invited.

Work further continued last Saturday. We are currently working to fully remove trash and the large left behind burn piles in both staging and on the field. Alongside this, we have re-affixed some of the siding pieces to the wall on the airstrip and started on making a small cover piece/building. Things are going well.

Repost of last Sunday's work on the field. We are hoping to get back out there tomorrow to do some mowing. This weekend will be a pretty slow one, I've got to go into my real job on Saturday and one of our staff member's son's birthday is on Sunday. We will keep you updated on any and all changes to the field.

If nothing comes of this, I will find a way to reallocate all donations back to their senders.
