Stillwater Fat Bike Rally

So sorry, but the event has been CANCELLED.

We are sadly going to cancel this year's Stillwater Fat Bike Rally on Sunday 25th January 2026. Several weather-related issues compounded to make this a somewhat obvious yet unfortunate decision:
- Due to the lack of snow with reasonable depth, and none predicted, both on the paved and single-track off-road portions of the route having many slick and/or large lumpy ice portions, making riding even with studded tires hazardous for all except possibly expert riders.
- The weather forecast is predicting very cold temperatures (+4degF with -8degF 10mph wind chill at the start), making riding even for fat bikers uncomfortable, and volunteering not so much fun.
- We only have 4 pre-registered riders to date, and are not likely to get to many more with the predicted weather.

Feel free to ride the course if you feel so inclined at your own risk, as it's all on public property, but it will no longer be considered part of the Stillwater MTB Team's or the World Snow Celebration's events. That said, the World Snow Celebration, its World Snow Sculpting Competition's submissions, and most of downtown Stillwater's businesses are still open and are well worth a visit.

HOLD THE DATE for Sunday morning, 25th January 2026 Come and ride by the "World Snow Sculpting Championship" submissions... then continue onto the riding route!(Registration coming soon.)

It's a wrap, and well wrapped it was too. Chilkoot Velo Cycling Club, as promoters, sends thanks to all of the riders, volunteers, partners and sponsors. Stillwater MTB, as the beneficiary, is also very grateful for your contributions.

For those of you who participated in the "Valley View Challenge" 4-timed segments... CONGRATULATIONS... below are the results. Keep your eyes on your mail for a small token of our appreciation (provided by Chilkoot Cyclery. (A few estimated/prorated times were needed (in red) as the Ride with GPS showed that most of you completed all 4 segments, but for some reason the app didn't pick you up.)

Stillwater Fat Bike Rally - Price Increase - TOMORROW

The event is now only 1 day away, TOMORROW, Sunday 16th January, and the weather is just about perfect for fat- or mountain-bike riding (e-bikes allowed); plus you'll get to ride alongside the World Snow Celebration's Snow Sculpture Competion's final submissions on your way to (or after) a drink at our registration desk inside River Siren Brewing Company, or visiting Mad Capper Saloon & Eatery or The Lumberjack.

There are now 4 timed segments along the course for those who want to have even more fun and try to boost their ego. After registration, you will receive a link to the RWGPS event with a route map highlighting the segment locations and leaderboard results. [FOR THOSE WHO HAVE ALREADY REGISTERED AND DOWNLOADED THE ROUTE MAP, please update your download to reflect the revised route to avoid Xcel Energy's very recent clear-cutting obstructions on a porton of the Valley View Park off-road trails!]

For those riders who want to participate in the 2025 TIMED SEGMENT “VALLEY VIEW CHALLENGE”...

Your REGISTRATION CONFIRMATION email gave you a link to our RIDE WITH GPS EVENT. Please ACCEPT THE INVITATION, and preferably remember to UPLOAD THE RWGPS APP BEFORE YOU ARRIVE, and DOWNLOAD THE ROUTE. You can then RECORD YOUR RIDE on your smartphone, even if it's safely in your pocket, and it will automatically track your segment times so both you (and I) can see the LEADERBOARDS for each segment and their cumulative total. (YOUR NAMES AND TIMES MUST BE IN THE APP BY MIDNIGHT ON SUNDAY 26th JANUARY to be an eligible winner. You can also upload other GPS device files to the RWGPS website... it just makes it a little more difficult for you.)
In your registration confirmation email, you will also get invited to to upgrade from the RWGPS 'starter' app to their 'basic' version for FREE. Check out what you can do with the Basic version upgrade:

It’s decision-making time! The weather next weekend is just about perfect for our event… not too cold and not too hot. Come and give it a try. Ride the 11-mile or abbreviated 7-mile route, or go for the “Valley View Challenge” 3 timed segments en-route. The Stillwater MTB team will be by their rest-stop tent and bonfire to cheer you on mid-way… with the amazing World Snow Sculpting Championships’ final sculptures, River Siren Brewing Company, Mad Capper Saloon & Eatery, and The Lumberjack, waiting to greet you in.
