International Paper Model Convention

Dear fellow paper modeler,

As you’ve probably guessed, we’ve had to cancel the IPMC for 2020 because of COVID-19. The hotel was still willing to host us, but complying with the state restrictions on public gatherings would have made it impossible to hold the convention as we know it. Everyone who paid for registration has already received a refund or requested that their payment be rolled over to the next convention. The hotel has reserved the dates of 29-30 October 2021 for us, and we’re working with them on rolling over our contract. Luckily, they have agreed not to charge us a cancellation fee because we’re long-time customers.

This is a very frustrating situation – it’s only the second time since 1997 that we haven’t had an IPMC. We can only keep our fingers crossed and hope that things will look a lot better by this time next year. Obviously, we’ll keep you posted as things develop. Keep scoring, folding and gluing, and we hope to see you again in 2021.

The decision has been made to postpone this year's IPMC in light of the current societal issues(mainly the virus) and we hope to regroup and announce what the day next year's IPMC will be held on.

Hi all,

Just a little blurb about some of the events that American paper modelers have put on. Over the weekend of May 18 and 19, a group of members from the papermodelers forum displayed at the Army Heritage and Education Center in Carlisle, PA, attendance was brisk, weather was a great help, lots of people came out, although the group had to break down quickly on Sunday due to an incoming rain storm, most of the group made it out dry. On Saturday the 15th, in Dayton, Ohio, another group of forum members displayed their models, weather didn't play havoc with their breakdown that evening. We are on track for the end of October and the Sterling event. If you are local, and would like to display, we have special offers available for first timers and for individual models. This year's theme is Octoberfest, so anything German goes. Hope to see you there!

Hi all,

The tentative schedule for the 2019 IPMC has been posted.
October 25, a Friday, is set up, and as usual we will have an icebreaker buffet for dinner.
October 26, Saturday, is the main event(ding, ding, ding), at 9am we will have a presentation or 2, and at 10am until 4pm, the convention itself will take place. Afterwards, we will have a another buffet dinner, and following dinner is our Award ceremony and Auction.

22nd International Paper Model Convention, October 2019

Hi all,

By now, most of us who have attend, have gotten back home, and unpacked our cars and put away all of the models, and maybe do some laundry.

As they say after a team wins their championship, planning for the next one starts immediately.

So in that vein, the 2019 version of IPMC, the 22nd, is tentatively scheduled for the weekend of October 25-27.
We do not foresee any problems with the Hotel, but if there are changes, we will let everyone know as soon as we hear.

One of the most anticipated announcements coming out the awards announcements is the theme for the convention:

Oktoberfest

Anything German goes, so if you build ships, German ships, Armor = German tanks or other militaria, so go through your stash, pull out that Tiger or Graf Zeppelin aircraft carrier, and start building.

If you have never attended and you are local to Sterling Virginia, we, Papermodelers.com and International Paper Model Convention, invite you to come visit, chat with fellow paper modelers, buy kits, get inspired, and if you want to display your models, we will have a table for you.

Hey Folks, especially those who might have snail mailed their registrations to Peter Ansoff.
It seems while he was out doing the retired life kind of thing, his postal mail was harfed.

Just when I thought things couldn’t get any crazier, it appears that there may have been a problem with my postal mail delivery while I was out of the area last month. I don’t know the extent of it, but it’s possible that some mailed IPMC registrations never got to me. Below is a list of everyone I have currently registered. If you’re planning to attend the IPMC and your name is not on the list, please respond to this email as soon as you can and let me know. Don’t worry, we’ll still get you in! Thanks, and sorry for the hassle.

Also, if you were the fence about showing your models, we do have open tables, and you might be able snag one, again check with Peter.
