There’s No Youth Sport Like This: SEVs Judgement Day WYTRC Delivers $450,000, Global Stage
The SEVS Judgement Day World Youth Team Roping Championships (WYTRC) further cemented its position as the largest youth team roping event in the world in 2026, welcoming more than 2,000 entries representing 32 states and four countries.
With more than $450,000 paid out in cash and prizes—including custom Trent Ward Saddles, goat-roping chutes and electric scooters—the event, organized by World Champions Tyler Wde and Wesley Thorp, continues to set the standard for opportunity and scale in youth Western sports. X-Treme Team Roping produced the event in partnership with Wade and Thorp, bringing in its top-notch crew all weekend long.
“You’re seeing the future of our sport right here,” Thorp said. “It’s not just the kids winning—it’s the ones getting their first shot. If we keep building opportunities like this, the level of team roping is only going to keep getting better.”
Beyond competition, SEVS Judgement Day’s WYTRC also emphasized its commitment to giving back, donating over $20,000 to charitable causes, including the Oaklynn Domer Fund, the Golden Circle of Champions and the Live Like Ace Foundation.
The event’s reach extended far beyond the arena. In just the first few days of coverage, WYTRC content generated more than 5 million views across social media platforms, while the livestream was watched for thousands of hours by audiences around the world—underscoring the growing interest in youth team roping.
A major highlight of 2026 was the expansion of sled roping, which was officially incorporated into the SEVS Judgement Day WYTRC for the first time after being tested in 2025 at Wade’s arena in Terrell, Texas. The division saw more than 250 teams entered, making it one of the fastest-growing segments of the event.
“This deal has always been about more than just putting on a roping,” Wade said. “We want to give kids a place to start, and also a place to grow. To see something we tested last summer turn into this many teams, and to know there are kids here whose first roping ever is WYTRC—that’s what we’re the most proud of.”
Designed as an entry point for beginners, sled roping is already proving to be a critical piece of the sport’s future. Event organizers estimate approximately 50 competitors participated in their first-ever roping at the SEVS Judgement Day WYTRC this year.
The SEVS Judgement Day WYTRC also continues to elevate the competitive and professional experience for youth athletes. Winners were given the opportunity to be interviewed on camera—many for the first time—by World Champions Tyler Wade and Wesley Thorp.
In addition, competitors had the chance to rope alongside top professionals in the ProAm, including world champions like Clay Smith and Erich Rogers.
For many, the Super #7.5 19-and-Under roping provided a high-pressure opportunity on live cattle, giving hundreds of youth competitors a chance to experience a new level of competitive intensity.
The continued growth of the WYTRC is made possible in large part by title sponsor, the Pink, Ruby and Riata stallion SEVS Judgement Day, backed by Theorem Ranch, whose commitment reflects a broader investment in the future of the sport.
At Theorem Ranch, the focus extends beyond elite horse development to supporting the next generation of competitors. Through SEVS Judgement Day’s title sponsorship, that vision is being put into action—helping expand opportunities, increase payouts and create meaningful entry points for new participants in team roping.
“When you have programs like SEVS Judgement Day step in and support something like this, it means a lot,” Thorp said. “It shows people believe in where this sport is going and are willing to invest in the next generation.”
Team roping has quietly become one of the richest disciplines in Western performance sports, with industry estimates placing more than $100 million in annual payouts across events. Within that landscape, youth team roping stands apart as the single richest competitive opportunity for young athletes anywhere in the world.
The SEVS Judgement Day WYTRC sits at the center of that growth, combining high-level competition with intentional pathways for new participants.
“We’re going to keep pushing this thing forward,” Wade said. “More opportunities, more ways to get involved, and keep growing the sport the right way.”
As participation and investment continue to rise, the SEVS Judgement Day World Youth Team Roping Championships remains a driving force in shaping the future of team roping.
