Good Evening Yamacraw 40 Miler Participants,
We hope this message finds you well as you are preparing for next weekend’s race. We're reaching out to give you an important update regarding the 40 mile race due to recent flooding in the area.
Unfortunately, the recent heavy rainfall has resulted in major flooding along sections of the Yamacraw 40 mile course. Currently there are sections of trail still underwater. The two major water crossings at Rock Creek and Blue Heron are both impassable. While we are dedicated to providing you with the best race experience possible, safety remains our top priority.
Please know that we do not plan to cancel the race. However, we may need to change the course to ensure your safety. We will be closely monitoring the weather forecast and trail conditions for the next few days to assess the situation. We are working closely with the park service, local emergency management, and experts from Sheltowee Trace Adventure Outfitters to determine as quickly as we can, if it will be safe to proceed with the current course or if it will need to be modified.
We definitely understand that this news may be disappointing, but we appreciate your understanding as we navigate these unforeseen circumstances. Rest assured that we are working diligently to plan for all contingencies.
Your patience, understanding, and flexibility during this time are greatly appreciated. We are committed to providing you with a memorable and rewarding race experience, and we will do everything in our power to make it happen.
Please stay tuned for further updates via email, our website, and social media channels as we continue to assess the situation and finalize race day logistics.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support.
Best regards,
Brian and Shelley Gajus
