We’re heartbroken to announce that the Yamacraw Trail Runs will be postponed until further notice. The closure of the tipple bridge at the Blue Heron Mining Community has made it impossible to recreate the experience and atmosphere that we have all come to love about Yamacraw. We tried our best to find a solution in 2024, but without that iconic finish, it just wasn’t the same race.

Please know that this is not the end of Yamacraw. This is only a temporary pause, and we’re committed to bringing the race back as soon as the tipple bridge at Blue Heron is reopened. Thank you for your patience and understanding, and for being part of the Yamacraw family. We can’t wait to welcome you back when the time is right.

Stay tuned for updates, and we’ll see you back on the trails soon!

🚨 ATTENTION 40 MILE RUNNERS 🚨

After much consideration and weighing all the options we've made the decision to enact Plan B and reroute the 40 mile course this Saturday. This was not the decision we wanted to have to make but due to recent flooding and high water combined with forecasted rainfall 4 of the next 5 days, it really became the obvious decision. There were just too many variables that would be impacted if we delayed the decision any longer including scheduling shuttles, course marking, volunteer coordination, timing and many other race day logistics. We would have certainly loved to have run the original course but runner's safety is our top priority, and this adjustment ensures that we can provide runners with a challenging and enjoyable race while mitigating any potential risks associated with the current conditions.

40 Miler Participants we have sent you an email with all the details about the course change. It also includes a link to get the course map, gpx, elevation profile, etc. Aid station information, cutoffs, drop bag info, etc. are also included.

Volunteers who signed up for Saturday's race, we will be getting in touch with you shortly. Working on all those details now and will hopefully have an email sent out within the next 24 hours. We are going to need all hands on deck this weekend and we know you guys are the best at coming through for these runners.

Thanks you all for your patience and support.

Good Evening Yamacraw 40 Miler Participants,

We hope this message finds you well as you are preparing for next weekend’s race. We're reaching out to give you an important update regarding the 40 mile race due to recent flooding in the area.

Unfortunately, the recent heavy rainfall has resulted in major flooding along sections of the Yamacraw 40 mile course. Currently there are sections of trail still underwater. The two major water crossings at Rock Creek and Blue Heron are both impassable. While we are dedicated to providing you with the best race experience possible, safety remains our top priority.

Please know that we do not plan to cancel the race. However, we may need to change the course to ensure your safety. We will be closely monitoring the weather forecast and trail conditions for the next few days to assess the situation. We are working closely with the park service, local emergency management, and experts from Sheltowee Trace Adventure Outfitters to determine as quickly as we can, if it will be safe to proceed with the current course or if it will need to be modified.

We definitely understand that this news may be disappointing, but we appreciate your understanding as we navigate these unforeseen circumstances. Rest assured that we are working diligently to plan for all contingencies.

Your patience, understanding, and flexibility during this time are greatly appreciated. We are committed to providing you with a memorable and rewarding race experience, and we will do everything in our power to make it happen.

Please stay tuned for further updates via email, our website, and social media channels as we continue to assess the situation and finalize race day logistics.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support.

Best regards,

Brian and Shelley Gajus
