Our Story

The Staten Island Philharmonic Youth Orchestra (SIPYO), established in 2013, is seeking to promote classical music for our city's youth.

The mission of the SIPYO is to provide the highest quality musical experience that allows our students to grow as musicians and individuals, who then contribute to our nation's cultural landscape, as they become future artistic and community leaders.

Our director and conductor Madeline Casparie has channeled her many years of performing and teaching experience into growing a full string orchestra composed entirely of youth grades 4 to 12, providing the opportunity to study and perform a broad range of orchestral repertoire and give a unique, enriching and exciting musical experience for aspiring young musicians.
