Nacido a finales del siglo XIX en Cuba, el bolero surgió de la fusión entre las tradiciones de guitarra española y los ritmos afrocaribeños. Lo que comenzó en humildes círculos de trovadores pronto se convirtió en la voz del corazón de América Latina — extendiéndose como fuego a través de México, Puerto Rico y más allá. Para la época dorada de los años 40 y 50, leyendas como Lucho Gatica, Olga Guillot y Los Panchos convirtieron el bolero en la banda sonora de las historias de amor de nuestros abuelos.

Tres minutos. Una guitarra suave. Una voz que tiembla de sentimiento. Las letras pintan retratos de anhelo y devoción, cada palabra elegida como una joya. La guitarra teje su magia, los bongós marcan el tiempo con tu corazón, y esa voz entrega cada frase como una confesión, una plegaria, una promesa.

We are deeply grateful to the Centre County Board of Commissioners for officially adopting the Hispanic Heritage Month proclamation of 2025 today! This meaningful recognition celebrates the rich contributions, vibrant culture, and invaluable presence of our Latino community in Centre County.

A heartfelt thank you to Lyvia V., our dedicated Latin Festival committee member, and JJ, one of our esteemed Masters of Ceremonies, for representing our community and receiving this important proclamation on our behalf.

This proclamation is more than just words on paper—it’s a recognition of the strength, resilience, and cultural richness that our Hispanic and Latino families bring to Centre County every single day. From our businesses and schools to our neighborhoods and community events, we are woven into the fabric of this place we all call home.

Together, we build a stronger, more inclusive Centre County!

¡Qué alegría más grande! Hoy la Junta de Comisionados del Centre County aprobó oficialmente la proclamación del Mes de la Herencia Hispana 2025. Este gesto nos llena de orgullo y reconoce todo lo que nuestra gente latina ha aportado a esta bella comunidad.

Queremos darles las gracias de corazón a Lyvia V., nuestra compañera del comité del Festival Latino, y a JJ, nuestro querido Maestro de Ceremonias, por estar ahí representándonos a todos y recibir esta proclamación tan especial.

Esta proclamación significa mucho para nosotros. Es un reconocimiento a nuestra herencia, a nuestras tradiciones, y a todo lo que hemos construido juntos aquí en Happy Valley. Somos parte de esta tierra en nuestros trabajos, en las escuelas de nuestros hijos, en cada rincón donde hemos echado raíces.

Happy Valley Improv is bringing our information table to the festival, and they couldn’t be more excited to be part of this amazing celebration! Están emocionados de ser parte de esta celebración increíble y compartir su pasión por el teatro de improvisación.

🌟 Discover Improv in Happy Valley! State College’s premier longform improv company, a growing community of improvisers from many backgrounds who are passionate about bringing the art of improv theatre to State College. Their community includes amazing performers who identify as LatinX, and they’re thrilled to celebrate them during this festival!

This food truck is bringing you tamales hechos a mano with the same love and tradition our abuelas taught us. Each masa is perfectly seasoned, each filling is cooked to perfection, and every tamale is served hot and ready to make your day better!
