Psst... anyone out there?
It's been pretty quiet around here since we wrapped up SHEDFEST V - we know. This last year really chewed us up. We experienced some all time highs and a few deep lows and I think we all needed some time to step back and reflect.
SHEDFEST was initially just supposed to be a birthday party for WOODSHED and a way to celebrate their tenure within the Pacific Northwest local music community. And let me tell you.... SHEDFEST I was a BANGER. We took over a friends property, built a stage, bought some kegs, commandeered a generator and played in the rain.
It was so good, that we decided to do it again... and again.... and again. Each year we tried to up the ante and make the experience great not only for the attendees but also great for the bands. It was always a labor of love and it was always a community effort.
As the climate of the world has changed, we've had to adapt and bend with the times. It came to a point where we had to reflect on what the ultimate intention was behind SHEDFEST and if we can still sustain this event while maintaining the integrity of our mission - Celebrating local music and platforming bands at a price that is accessible to everyone. And we ultimately came to the difficult conclusion that we can't. We want to walk away while we're looking back with fond and full hearts.
We are so proud of what we were able to create. We did something really cool FIVE TIMES and made some of the best memories that anyone could ever hope to. And none of that would have been possible without all of you. Whether you came, played, volunteered, or even just spread the word. It is immensely humbling to know how much everyone believed in this and in us.
This chapter is closing but the books still being written.... we'll see what the future holds.
With much love and gratitude,
Hunter, Wes, Autumn, and WOODSHED
