Even though the 2025 Snow Angel Fat Tire Bike Race couldn’t hit the trails, our incredible community still showed up in a BIG way!

Together, you helped raise an incredible $10,000! Funds that will go directly toward fighting childhood hunger and providing essential resources for local kids and families across Mecosta and Osceola Counties.

This generosity didn’t happen by accident. It happened because riders kept raising pledges, even when they knew there’d be no finish line. It happened because sponsors stood by us, not for the visibility, but because they believe every child deserves a full belly, warm clothes, and the chance to thrive.

We truly understand the disappointment and frustration surrounding the decision to cancel the race portion of the Snow Angel Fat Tire Bike Race, and we want you to know this decision was not made lightly.

As a small nonprofit, our goal has always been to provide a safe, well-run event that raises critical funds for hungry children in our community. In the days leading up to this weekend, we consulted with emergency management officials, our safety team, medical advisors, and experienced racers. Based on predicted wind chills between -10 and -20 degrees below zero, the collective recommendation was clear: proceeding would pose unacceptable safety risks; not just for riders, but also for volunteers, staff, medical responders, and trail personnel who would be exposed for extended periods of time.

While we recognize that many riders are highly experienced and prepared for extreme conditions, as the event organizer we carry a responsibility to make decisions that prioritize overall safety. Unfortunately, options such as delaying, rescheduling, or moving the race were explored in depth and were not feasible due to permitting restrictions, staffing limitations, volunteer availability, and coordination with venue partners.

Regarding registered rider questions:

Registration fees: We are finalizing next steps and will be communicating details shortly. Our goal is to be as fair and transparent as possible while also honoring the significant costs already incurred to put this event together.

Swag: All registered riders will have the option to receive their race swag. Details on pickup or mailing options will be shared in a follow-up email.

We know that many of you planned travel, time off, and training for this race, and we truly regret the disappointment this causes. Please know that this decision was made with care, integrity, and deep respect for our riders and community.

We sincerely appreciate your passion for the sport and your support of this event. If you’re able, we hope you’ll still join us for the Tap Takeover gathering to connect, celebrate, and support the mission behind Snow Angel; feeding children and families who need it most.

Out of an abundance of caution and based on emergency management recommendations, we’ve made the tough decision to cancel the race portion of the Snow Angel Fat Tire Bike Race due to unsafe and extreme weather conditions.
💙 The safety of our riders, volunteers, and community always comes first.
