It is with a heavy heart that we must announce that as of July 25, 2024 the 2024 Cranks Around the Campfire Mountain Biking Festival has been canceled. The council that owns the Mt. Allamuchy Scout Reservation decided last week that it was no longer an event they wish to host. This came as an extreme shock to us here at Cranks. We have run the event harmoniously in partnership with the council since 2010. Since then the event has funded the camp’s mountain biking program and other needs such as buying the camp a truck earlier this summer. We are appealing the decision but want you all to know the situation. This last minute decision by the council comes after the event has spent a considerable amount of money in its planning. We are working on recouping those losses and will refund all attendees in the near future. We will of course keep you all updated on the future of the event.
On a personal level the event has touched our lives and created many wonderful friendships. Our kids look forward to no other event quite like the way they look forward to Cranks. I know many of you feel the same way and have created your own traditions with Cranks. I hope in the future an event like Cranks can happen again in our area. It has been an amazing journey running the event from its humble beginnings of 25 attendees in 2010 to its current success with 300+ attendees since 2021. We could not have done this event without all of the volunteers. Thank you so much for being part of the event. Cranks would not have happened without your kind generosity. Lastly, thank you to everyone who has joined us at the event and supported it. Cranks Around the Campfire had a wonderful run. Most events like it don’t last 14 years. Although it will be missed dearly, it leaves us with great memories and lasting friendships.

Come out to a family friendly event to promote mountain biking to youth age riders. Event will include a bike safety check, trail school, and guided rides.

Our event venue, Mount Allamuchy Scout Reservation, tested positive for E Coli in one area of their facility 3 weeks ago. The water was used for 2 weeks without incident before results came back and was used for drinking and showers. We just wanted to give everyone a heads up and encourage you to bring your own drinking water or jugs to fill at Camp Wheeler which is on other side of reservation.
