Forever Bumping for Elise

Forever Bumping for Elise Bumping for Elise began in 2017 to benefit the Velez family and Elise who was diagnosed with a terminal brain tumor (DIPG) in February 2015.

An annual memorial volleyball tournament to raise funds which are donated directly to local families fighting pediatric cancer in honor of Elise who was diagnosed with DIPG (brain tumor) in 2015. Elise passed away March 2018 and the tournament was renamed Forever Bumping for Elise. Since 2018 the tournament has continued with the support of the community to raise money for local families fighting pediatric cancer.

It is a late post, but never too late to share beautiful memories. One of the things Nico wanted to do was to go to Kings Dominion. Here some pictures of him at Kings Dominion. Mom said he was able to ride the roller coasters and he had a blast. They are very grateful, so thank you all!

Enjoy the pictures! We are so happy to put a smile on Nico’s faceπŸ’œ.

In memory of Elise, our community came together for a beautiful, sunny day of volleyball, love, and support. With 21 teams signed up, we were able to raise an amazing $4,900 for Niko and his family.

A very special thank you to our big sponsor, Dr. Kevin Haselhorst and Milestone Chiropractic Centreβ€”because of them, we had delicious food throughout the event. We also want to thank the volunteers who worked so hard from early in the morning, especially Hannah Lugo for donating gift cards, kitchen supplies, and drinks, as well as our incredible kitchen crew for keeping everyone fed. Special thanks to Steve and Diego for running the tournament, and to every single player who showed up with their support and spirit. You all made this day possible.

Elise’s memory continues to shine bright through all of you.

Once again, THANK YOU!

Nikolas β€œNiko” Curtis is a fun-loving 9-year-old with a big personality. He loves playing soccer, building epic Lego creations, and riding the wildest roller coasters he can find. With three siblings and a spirit that’s always on the move, Niko keeps his family on their toes.

But just two weeks into 4th grade, after a summer filled with unexplained pain, a limp, and multiple doctor visits, Niko was admitted to VCU and diagnosed with Ewing’s sarcoma β€” a rare and aggressive cancer that affects the bones and surrounding soft tissue.

His tumor, located near his spine, is inoperable due to the risk of nerve damage. Niko was on an intense treatment plan involving both chemotherapy and radiation.

Through it all, Niko’s courage and positivity continue to shine. His parents, Kyle and Kiersten, are deeply grateful that Niko has been chosen as this year’s beneficiary of the Forever Bumping for Elise Volleyball Tournament.

Stop by on Saturday and support Nico πŸ’œπŸ’›

This year’s tournament was a great success!

For the first time, we were blessed with 23 teams. It was a long day full of fun for good cause and from the bottom of our hearts, we are very thankful. Together we were able to raise $5,218 for Lily and her family who are fighting pediatric cancer.

Thank you for many hard working volunteers and amazing sponsors who all made this special day possible. Our sponsors, Kevin Haselhorst with Milestone Chiropractic Center, Hannah Lugo with Thirty-one, Jenny Kung with JSK Designs and Patrick Schalkofski with Your Protection Connection. We are always thankful for Steve Sherba who runs the tournament and makes sure our teams have a great day of play. Thank you to all the volunteers who came early in the morning to set up and our kitchen crew who provide food for everyone.

Last but not least, thank you to all the players for supporting this tournament. We could have done it without you.

Bless you all!
