The weather apps indicate next Saturday will be a glorious day for EcoTones Concerts @ Madison Square Park on Sat. June 6 from 2:00-4:00!
18 members of the EcoTones Ensemble will play in small groups along a Music Trail through the park, premiering 5 new compositions by EcoTones founder & cellist Jody Redhage Ferber inspired by the park's 5 notable horticultural collections: Red Buds, Hydrangeas, Daffodils, Witch Hazels, and Camellias. EcoTones' signature style in a transition zone between classical chamber music and jazz improvisation will be on full display with performances by an all-star cast of musical collaborators:
vibraphonist Chris Dingman, flutist Jessica Schmitz, bassoonist Atao Liu, multi-reedist Ben Kono, trumpeter Michael Dudley, trombonist Alan Ferber, guitarist Jesse Lewis, bassist Adam Chilenski, percussionist Rogerio Boccato, percussionist Glenn Schloss, vocalist Gino Sitson, PhD, violinist Sara Caswell, violinist Lady Jess, violist Orlando Wells, cellist Jody Redhage Ferber, and alphorn/french horn trio Thomas Jöstlein, Tricia Jostlein, and Barbara Jostlein Curry. The Music Trail concludes with a convergence of all 18 musicians and audience on the park's Oval Lawn for a joyful large ensemble set celebrating the interconnectivity of humans + park flora & fauna, and our belonging together in this precious urban green space.
This is a public, FREE concert with no tickets necessary, and we are incredibly grateful to Madison Square Park Conservancy for the support for this once-in-a-lifetime project over the past 2+ years. The event is made possible by the New York State Council for the Arts, Screen Door Philanthropies, Zara Crowley Foundation, and generous private donations.
