Derek Kaufman Memorial Wood Bat Tournament Established in 2000 by Bill Karas to honor the young St. Clair native who tragically passed away in a work related accident. Clair Little League.

Established in 2000 by Bill Karas to honor the St. Clair native, Derek, who tragically passed away in a work related accident in 1999 at the age of 23 years old. Tournament Directors Matt Karas and Matt Distelrath are also instrumental in organizing this event year in and year out, along with countless volunteers and assistance from St. What started with approximately 6 teams at the former St. Cl

air Little League fields, has grown to be one of Michigan's most desired wood bat tournaments for players 14 and under, hosting an impressive 72 teams at the current and equally impressive St. Clair Little League complex. This event takes place over the Memorial Day weekend each year and runs from Friday evening to Sunday afternoon.

Thank you to all the (record-breaking!!) 83 teams who came out to play in the best tournament in the state! (in our humble opinion lol) It was a beautiful weekend with lots of baseball and yummy food! We are grateful for the countless volunteers and crew who help make this tournament run smoothly each year by putting in long hours to keep our fields looking sharp and concession stand stocked up, you all are the BEST!!
