It might take you a little longer to get to the cafe over the next couple of weeks, but it is worth it!

A quick update on N. Second Street. The road was closed yesterday, September 1, and crews immediately began excavation and installation of the new water main. The work is very deep in this area, but crews are making excellent progress despite the extreme heat and heat advisories this week.

As they excavate, crews continue to uncover portions of the old brick streets that were paved over many years ago. It is a good reminder of the history beneath this area, and both the Second Street and Main Street projects will incorporate brick pavers, reused railroad rail and other elements intended to highlight that history rather than cover it back up.

As we committed to Frenchtown residents, we will only close Second Street when the work directly requires it. This is one of those times. The excavation and water main installation are occurring within the roadway itself, making the closure unavoidable and making it easy to see why the street needs to be closed while this work is underway. Crews remain on schedule to complete this stage of work by September 15.

It may be a little harder to get to us this weekend. With the Festival on Main Street and Frontier Park, the Saint Charles Market is moving to far North Second Street near Tecumseh so both entrances into Frenchtown may be a little more difficult to navigate.

Get out and enjoy Saint Charles this weekend. The weather will be amazing so, grab some breakfast at LBV, hit the Market a little north of us and then spend the rest of the day visiting the vendors at the Festival.

Please don't forget about our Main Street merchants and restaurants this weekend. Grab a corndog or a turkey leg but do dinner at one of our local establishments and help those that are here 365 days a year, as well!!

Did you know that we bake all of our own bread that we use for our French Toast? Every Monday, our team is feverishly at work to prepare all of our French Toast bread for the coming week.
