The Pioneer Valley Jewish Film Festival wrapped up yesterday after ten very well attended performances, two special pre-festival events, and lots of in-person high fives and hugs. We are grateful for the support of our sponsors, donors, community partners, JCC staff, and volunteers, and so pleased with the enthusiastic response from audiences, following three years of pandemic-related disruption. This is it, the final weekend of the Pioneer Valley Jewish Film Festival! Thanks to our generous sponsors, donors, and community partners, we were able to bring the festival to enthusiastic audiences in person this year, after three years of pandemic-related disruption and creative adaptation. "Paris Boutique" screens Friday at 3:00 pm at the Greenfield Garden Cinema, and "Matchmaking" will be shown Saturday at 8:00 pm at the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame. The Pioneer Valley Jewish Film Festival wraps up on Sunday with two films: the New England premiere of "Vishniac" at 3:30 pm will be shown at the Northampton Center for the Arts and Prophets of Change will run at 7:00 pm at the Amherst Cinema. The 2023 Pioneer Valley Jewish Film Festival began its ten-film run last night with an opening reception and screening of Farewell, Mister Haffman at the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame. An introduction by Simon Sibelman, Professor Emeritus of Judaic, Holocaust, and Peace Studies at Appalachian State University, preceded the screening.
