ABMC Regional Specialty November 9, 2018 , Springfield,MO The purpose of this page is to provide information on the upcoming Nov 2016 American Belgian Malinois Regional Specialty to be held in Springfield, MO.

As the AKC's parent breed club for the Belgian Malinois, ABMC sanctions and promotes select AKC events solely for Belgian Malinois. These sanctioned events feature competitions and events that are not held in regular AKC All-Breed Shows. The conformation events such as this one, are judged by AKC certified judges who are also Belgian Malinois Breeders. In addition to all the Regular Classes and po

ints accrued in them, the ABMC awards Malinois points toward club recognition of outstanding exemplars of the breed as determined by our breeder judges. This year, there will be an ABMC sanctioned conformation show held during the Ozark Mountain Fall Classic, a four day all breed conformation show which is hosted by two local kennel clubs: North Arkansas Kennel Club and Ozark Kennel Club. The regular classes for Belgian Malinois which will be held on Friday Nov 10, 2017 will be designated an ABMC Regional Specialty. There will be Sweepstakes classes as well as "Regular" classes on that day. In addition to special classes and awards, the Regional Specialty will use Belgian Malinois breeder judges.

OK- here is the date we have all been waiting for- the Springfield. MO American Belgian Malinois Regional specialty will be Friday November 10, 2017.
It will be a designated specialty and as such will be held again in conjunction with the Ozark Mountain Fall Classic in Springfield, MO.
The Superintendent is Foy Trent, as it was last year.
The Regional Specialty judge will be Sonja Ostrom.
It is my understanding that she is a Belgian Sheepdog breeder as well as a past president of the BSD parent club.
This year, our Sweep Stakes judge will be Pat Snow, Belgian Sheepdog breeder and past president of the BSD parent breed club.
We are looking at adding supported entries for BSDs and Tervurens to our line up since we have Belgian Breeder judges on Friday.

This event is held at the Ozark Empire Fairgrounds ePlex. This wonderful facility has climate control, concrete floors, lots of room for grooming, vendors, health screenings- you name it!
Food is available on site. Parking is free. RV camping is on site and reasonable.

Since this is a Regional Specialty, there will be the typical Specialty Classes offered. Puppy, Veterans, Working.
However, did you know that Altered/Neutered animals can compete?
They sure can! In the Working Sweepstakes! Apparently it is up to the hosting club (ABMC in this case) to open competition to altered dogs who will NOT go on to the Best of Breed ring.
Therefore, our specialty would like to encourage Working Dogs (defined below) which have been spayed or neutered to compete in the working Dog Sweepstakes classes. Entry into another class is not required.
The correct titles required for Working Sweepstakes are performance titles that meet the requirements for the ABMC Register of Merit (ROM). The Sweepstakes will be divided by S*x. Winners from the bitch and the dog classes will compete for Best in Working Sweepstakes with the Opposite S*x Winner being awarded Best of Opposite S*x to Best in Working Sweepstakes.
Examples of titles include: CD, CDX, UD, HS,HI, HX, NA, NAJ, NAP, NJP, OA, OAJ, OAP, OJP, AX,
AXJ, AXP, AJP, TD, TDU, TDX, VST, IPO1, IPO2, BH, RE, RAE, Ring1, Ring2, or SAR

So- get those Working Dogs tuned up! Bring them to the Specialty and show off your handsome Working Dog!
