Most of the events we host at the Brinkerhoff Mansion are forward looking, from baby showers anticipating a new baby, bridal showers looking forward to a wedding or graduation parties looking forward to the next phase of life. Occasionally; however, we have a celebration of life event where family and friends look back. They look back and remember the life of someone who was loved and made a difference in their own life as a spouse, friend, co-worker, teacher or in some other role. There is always an undercurrent of sadness and loss, but there is also a feeling of celebration because of who that person was, what they meant to so many and all they accomplished in their life.
Although today should not be the only day, we set aside today to look back and remember the many military men and women who gave their life in service to this country for the cause of freedom. As we enjoy the freedoms we have in this nation, and there are an incredible number of them, we remember, and give thanks for each of them and their selfless acts of service. May God comfort those who knew them and remain, as they remember their loved ones who served and died for this nation.
