Matthew races our Open wave, where it's all about the challenge, the fun, and the people you share the course with.

His favorite moment? Crossing the finish line in year one, because, in his words, he was "dying." 😂 We've all been there. He gave it everything he had, and that's what makes a finish line feel so good.

Matthew is also a true ambassador for the sport, showing up to support as many OCR events around the Midwest as he can. If there's a start line nearby, there's a good chance he's on it.

When he's not battling obstacles, you'll find him on the hunt for our hidden mini skulls. 💀👀 Skulls found so far: zero. But we admire the dedication. 2027 is the year, Matthew Resendiz!

JR lined up for his first Midwest OCR this past race with a fractured hand. He could've switched to the Open wave, but he chose to compete anyway.

Although he didn't hold on to 100% obstacle completion, he never stopped. He finished the race, and his wife Stephanie, his biggest cheerleader and photographer, was right there to see it. That's his proudest moment. And in 2027, he's coming back with a goal to keep his band.

That's the lesson OCR teaches better than anything. Life won't always go your way. Sometimes you start already hurting, the storm rolls in, and the goal you came for slips away. You keep moving anyway. You don't quit just because it didn't go as planned.

JR Chaplinski is another OG in OCR and has been chasing obstacles since his Warrior Dash days. He never loved running just to run, but add obstacles and he's hooked, and still going strong in his 50s.

Allison travels all the way from New Hampshire to race with us, and 2027 will be her 4th year.

She's a teacher by day and not afraid of doing hard things, ever. Case in point: Dragon's Back, where you jump from one platform to another and catch yourself on a bar. It scares a LOT of people.

This year, during our early packet pick-up party, Allison went for it, barely missed the bar, and slid right down the wall. So what did she do? Got right back up, tried again, and NAILED it. 💪

Now that's a lesson worth teaching.

For three years in a row now, Bill has completed Midwest OCR the day before the race so that we can do a final run through and make sure it's ready for you.

He also comes in days early to help us build and set up. Whatever we need, wherever we need it, Bill is there. (Unless spiders are involved. Then you're on your own. 🕷️).

And let's be clear. Bill can RACE. He has completed every obstacle we've ever put on our course. Every. Single. One. He's fast too, so if he ever lined up on race day, it wouldn't surprise us to see him standing on the podium.

He's also the owner of Mythic Race in Blodgett, Missouri. Obstacles like Vahalla, 6-Axis, and Dra'Gaffe' that have been on our course are all obstacles from Bill's race.

If his event is not on your 2027 calendar yet, you need to fix that.

Bill, you make this race better every single year and we're so thankful to have you on our team.

Chris has been racing OCR since 2011. He's a true OG.
He has taken on the Bearded Challenge at every Midwest OCR, and 2027 will be #4.

His biggest impact goes beyond his own race, though. He's one of the best ambassadors this sport has, always encouraging people to step out of their comfort zones and try something new. And if you're struggling on course, he'll stop and lend a hand.

He has also been racing with his kids for years now, raising the next generation of obstacle racers. 🙌

Three Midwest OCR races. Two overall wins. One silver.

Kevin is one of the best obstacle course racers in the sport. Not one brand, not one style of course. He's fast, but what sets him apart is pairing that speed with obstacle skill that's the real deal. It doesn't matter where he lines up, he's almost always on the podium.

But what we admire most is his sportsmanship. We've watched him cheer on fellow competitors mid race. We've watched him finish, then head back out on course to cheer racers through obstacles and across the finish line.

Fast, skilled, and a class act. He's the kind of athlete you look up to.

153 of you have already committed to Midwest OCR 2027.💪💪

As much as I'd love to tell you that people sign up every day, unfortunately, that's not how it works.

Last year, 150 people signed up ten days after we opened up registration. And then it took over 6 months to get to 200.

What does one have to do to keep the streak going?
