Exciting news, Relations — The Root Experience is back for 2026!!! 🙌🏽

👉🏽Message from The Root Experience Collective:
“There is a current beneath everything we create. A pulse that has been beating long before we arrived, sustained by the Spokane people. True acknowledgment isn’t a static statement; it is an active relationship and shared space. We step into this work in deep gratitude to the Spokane Tribe, honoring them not only as the original stewards of this land but as the intentional hosts holding space for our communities. The Root Experience is a space to listen to that pulse together.

We are humbled by this new partnership, and can’t wait to be in community with you all.”

⁉️ What is The Root Experience Festival?:
The Root Experience Festival is a 3-day festival featuring BIPOC talent from various cultures and disciplines. ARTIST HIGHLIGHT — SPORE!! 🎵

SPORE is a colorful, energized band of 3 young folk from Innovation High School. They love to serenade and get people on their feet, where dancing crazy is just the medicine they ask for. Help us in welcoming Spore as a performer this year!

👉🏽Catch SPORE at the Festival:
📍Day 1: Fri, November 14:
(6-10:30pm)
- Performer
- The Spokane Central Library (3rd floor stage)

✨SPORE’s Bio:
“SPORE is a dynamic force in modern post-hardcore, delivering an urgent, relentless sound defined by sharp, angular guitar work and explosive dual vocals. Formed in Spokane, Washington by high school students from Innovation High School, SPORE quickly transcended the garage with a raw, emotionally charged intensity that belies their age.

Drawing influence from the chaotic energy of early 2000s post-hardcore and the melodic complexity of modern metalcore, the band carves out a sound that is both technically proficient and viscerally cathartic. SPORE’s focus is on crafting concise, impactful anthems that demand attention. With a commitment to the DIY ethic and a growing reputation for ferocious live performances, SPORE is poised to quickly outgrow its origins and make a significant impact on the heavy music scene.“

FILM & ARTIST HIGHLIGHT — “Here From the Start,” directed by Linny Dee!! 🙏🏽

Linny is a local director, performer, and actress who loves collaborating and working on films. This documentary feature is a local highlight on various BIPOC communities in Spokane. Get ready for a powerful film, as the interviewees tell their stories, generational connections to our area, and ultimately, what happened. We cannot wait to screen this film!

🎥Catch Linny’s Film at the Festival:
📍SUN, NOV 16, 2025 (4-6:30pm)
- Magic Lantern Theater // 25 W Main Ave, Spokane, WA
- Large theater

🎬Film Synopsis:
“A one hour long documentary about the history of Spokane and the Historic International District, told by descendants of those who were part of it. Initially built by the Chinese immigrants who came to work on the railroad, Spokane’s Historic International District once consisted of Chinese, Japanese, Russian, Jewish, Yugoslavian, and others. Many of these residents were marginalized by the dominant European-American society. They made the district their home and built lives for themselves in this neighborhood, coexisting as a vibrant community of minorities.”

✨ Linny’s Bio:
“Hi, I’m Linny Dee. I am a media artist and stage and film actress currently based in the Pacific Northwest. Although I have begun to shift my work towards media production from stage performance, I still consider myself an actress as well as a storyteller. As a performer my first love was live theatre but a lack of diversity in the industry led me to my current pursuits in media where I’ve been stretching my documentarian muscles In the future I hope to create content that introduces important social subjects to my audience in a non-threatening way that has the potential to create change.”
