🏁Important Announcement from Golden Mountain Speedway🏁
Race fans, drivers, teams, sponsors, and supporters- This is not the post we ever wanted to make, but after much thought and many difficult conversations, we have made the decision to cancel the remainder of the 2026 racing season at Golden Mountain Speedway.
As many of you know, our family works full-time jobs while also operating multiple businesses. Over the past several months, we have faced increasing challenges, including employee shortages, equipment issues, and the growing demands of balancing work, family, and business responsibilities. Unfortunately, we have reached a point where we can no longer give the speedway the time, attention, and resources it deserves.
Another difficult reality we have faced is the rising cost of hosting race events. The expenses associated with operating a race night—including insurance, staffing, equipment maintenance, track preparation, utilities, payouts, and other operational costs. Despite our best efforts, race night revenue has not consistently matched the financial investment required to host these events.
This decision was not made lightly. Golden Mountain Speedway has always been more than just a racetrack to us—it is a place where friendships are built, families come together, and memories are made. We are incredibly grateful for every driver, crew member, sponsor, employee, and fan who has supported us along the way.
While we are disappointed to end the season early, we believe this is the best decision for our family and for the future of the speedway. Rather than stretching ourselves too thin and risking the quality of the experience we provide, we feel it is important to take a step back and focus on what matters most.
We also ask for understanding and respect regarding this decision. Unless you have owned and operated a racetrack yourself, it is difficult to fully understand the sacrifices, stress, financial challenges, and countless behind-the-scenes struggles that come with keeping the gates open. We know some will have opinions, but we kindly ask that negative comments be kept to yourself. If you currently own a racetrack and are making it work, we sincerely commend you. This industry is not easy, and we truly wish you continued success.
Thank you for your understanding, patience, and continued support. We truly appreciate each and every one of you and hope to see you all again down the road.
With gratitude,
- The Waters
