We posted the winners in each bracket, but everyone was a winner who supported our event! We grossed over $27K! Net profits (minus expenses which include the dinner cost for cocktail party attendees) go straight into our scholarship fund.
We are grateful that the rain on Saturday paved the way for a beautiful and fun day of tennis on Sunday!

Co-chairs Diane Surak Rohan and Tam A Oros would like to thank our wonderful committee for attending very long meetings, reaching out to the generous Outer Banks Community for sponsorships and items for the silent auction, basket and bourbon raffles and the gift bags, creating artwork (for our custom M&Ms, marketing materials and the sponsor board, and decorating the trellis, and working hard at check-in and check-out. The event was beautiful and well-attended by many Derby hat-wearing ladies (and a few fancy jackets on the men!) Almost every one of our Duck Woods Ladies Tennis Association supported us in some way, even if they were not on the committee, by attending the cocktail party, playing in the tournament, donating items, securing a sponsorship and/or sponsoring, or just writing a check to help us not just reach but surpass our goals. We ran out of time this year, so no committee group photos was taken, but big thanks to Suzy Rich, Brooke Samson, Daphne Akers* , Avery Harrison , Maureen Montgomery , Jessie McClary , Nicole Bouker, Tara Jeffrey LaFrance , and Mayor Elizabeth Morey.* (*Derby Hat contest winners!)

The Derby Hat contest was a tight race from the beginning, with first guests and Saratoga Sponsors Bill and Evelyn arriving early and heading straight to the raffle ticket sales with their programs. Smiles were big but the hats were bigger. What a fun night! The guest of honor, Grace Garman, is the Duck Woods Ladies Tennis Association's first ever renewable scholarship winner (Manteo HS Class of 2024), and we were happy she and her father Andy were able to attend. Grace, a rising junior at UNC Chapel Hill, spoke about how much everyone's support means to her, not just financially, but in every way.

We have so many people to thank and congratulate, but for starters, here are the winners and finalists from yesterday's women's tennis tournament at Duck Woods Country Club on a beautiful Sunday. We had a later start due to Saturday's rain, so we're including the bonus picture of the consolation draw teams we received after we had broken everything down and left the court!
