⚠️ IMPORTANT 5K WEATHER UPDATE – START TIME DELAYED ⚠️

Due to the forecasted thunderstorms and lightning during the morning hours, the Edison VFW Post 3117 5th Annual Benefit 5K Run/Walk has been delayed to an anticipated 11:00 AM start time tomorrow, Sunday, September 13.

Doors will still open at 7:00 AM for check-in. A light breakfast will be available in the morning, and lunch will be provided following the race.

For the safety of our volunteers and event crew, outdoor setup will begin or resume 30 minutes after the last observed lightning strike or sound of thunder, provided conditions remain safe.

Our goal is to begin the race at 11:00 AM, once the timing crew is fully set up and ready to safely start the event. If weather conditions cause additional setup delays, the start time may be adjusted accordingly.

We are working closely with the Edison Police Department and will continue monitoring conditions throughout the morning. The safety of our runners, volunteers, staff, timing crew, and public safety personnel remains our top priority.

⚠️ Important 5k Edison VFW 3117 5k update for tomorrow.

Weather update Edison 5K
Good morning, everyone!

We are aware of the possibility of thunderstorms tomorrow morning during the Benefit 5K. At this time, we are working closely with the Edison Police Department and monitoring the weather conditions.

As of now, the Benefit 5K is still ON as scheduled.

If thunder and lightning are present around our scheduled start time, we are currently looking at the possibility of a delayed start to ensure the safety of our runners, volunteers, and spectators.

A light breakfast will be provided before the race, and lunch will be served following the race.

If you haven’t signed up yet, please consider registering today! This is a benefit run, and proceeds help support local charitable organizations in our community. Your participation helps us make a real difference right here at home.

We will provide another weather update later today as the forecast becomes clearer.
