Follow us on Instagram: http://instagram.com/apousc We complete approximately 6,500 hours of service each year.

The University of Southern California's chapter of Alpha Phi Omega (APO), the Alpha Kappa chapter, was founded in June 1934. Since then, we have remained active on the USC campus and have provided the community with thousands of hours of community service over the years. On campus, we support many community service events such as Friends and Neighbors Day, Spirits at Troy, Dance Marathon, and nume

rous other fundraising drives. We also host large service events every semester, such as Week of Service, where we invite students and members of the local community to participate in our various service projects. In the local community, our volunteer work is far-reaching and impactful. Inner city tutoring, beach cleanups, college preparation, animal care, and charity fundraisers are only a few examples of the many diverse service programs we participate in. Although service is our main purpose, we also value the bonds formed between our members and cultivate those friendships as much as possible. When we’re not doing community service, you can usually find us spending time together. Whether we’re grabbing dinner in Downtown LA, or heading to the beach for a bonfire, we enjoy being together like a tight-knit family. We work to develop leadership in our members through a number of programs. Our extensive Executive Board provides members with a variety of opportunities to practice leadership skills. We also hold workshops every semester to develop such skills as communication, teamwork, and adaptability. We strive to demonstrate our three cardinal principles, Leadership, Friendship, and Service, in our everyday lives, whether we’re at an APO event or not. If you want to develop your leadership skills, help the community, and make friends while you’re at it, then APO is the organization for you.

SUMMER SPOTLIGHT: Audrey Kono, Alpha Xi, Spring 2019

This summer Audrey has been working a lot and doing some fun stuff with her friends like cooking and going to museums. She got to see Shawn Mendes live at the Staples Center with one of her friends in July! Audrey also works part-time at the Torrance location for the restaurant Lemonade. Audrey also served her second year working as a Teaching Assistant at Cal State Long Beach for a yearbook camp she used to attend in high school. In July, Audrey decided to participate in the Plastic Free July Challenge because she’s always looking for ways to reduce waste and live without single-use plastic! This summer, Audrey also learned how to drive and got her driver’s license!!

We hope everyone had a great summer and can’t wait to see everyone back on campus in the the next couple of weeks!!

SUMMER SPOTLIGHT: Gary Wu, Alpha Xi, Spring 2019, Alpha Omicron-Creative Director

This summer, through an APO connection (, his academic mentor), Gary had the amazing opportunity to stay in LA and work at the USC Marshall Center for Global Supply Chain Management! He’s currently working as the lead graphic design intern alongside the marketing team for the 7th Annual Global Supply Chain Summit. To prepare for this event Gary creates different graphics for emails, LinkedIn posts, powerpoints, brochures and much more. For Gary, it has been a great experience to be a part of such an organized team to run this large event with 500+ attendees! This opportunity has opened Gary’s eyes to new futures and career paths he never considered before and he can’t wait to learn more and work even harder. Despite this great opportunity, this summer Gary has missed his dog Boba.

Also check out the cool new profile pic graphic Gary designed!!

SUMMER SPOTLIGHT: Douglas Luo, Alpha Mu, Spring 2018

This summer, Douglas was a legislative intern at the Office of Sen. Dianne Feinstein. He had the opportunity to attend hearings and write memos/do research for a legislative team that focused on wildfires and veterans affairs. Part of Douglas’s internship also included receiving calls from constituents, giving tours of the Capitol, and at times responding to constituents' mail. Douglas loved the atmosphere on the Hill because his day-to-day was very much influenced by the news and he was surrounded by like-minded people who he could discuss politics and policy with! Working on the Hill was really an unforgettable experience and broadened Douglas’s perspective on possible career paths He could pursue.
