Today is exactly one month until the 2026 Lake Macbride Trail Races! As you can see with one month to go, the Spillway is beautiful, and really flowing! We don't know what the Spillway will look like on race day (July, 18th 2026), but we know that we will be there, and there will be some wonderful Spillway Guardians volunteering to help everyone cross safely!

The beautiful trails always make running at Lake Macbride an appealing adventure, but what we find really amps up the energy on race day is the people. Not just your fellow runners on the trail, but the caring and excited volunteers that make race day possible.

Whether it is course setup before the race, aid stations and course Marshall's during, the dedicated Spillway Guardians, or the ever important SAG runner, it's these folks that make the Lake Macbride Trail Races what it is every year.

We have a lot of exciting things coming down the pipeline as we approach year 4 of the Lake Macbride Trail Races. One of those things we are pretty stoked about is the return of Back 40 BBQ, providing not only amazing post race food, but an incredible service experience! Spring is transitioning into summer, and race day for this year's event is quickly approaching. Every year, we try to do something a little better than the year before, and we are excited to announce that we will be doing something WAY better than any of our previous years.
This year the Lake Macbride Trail Races will be adding professional timing, adding the veteran race timing of On the Run Race Timing! Jeff and Candy Mullen have been timing both road and trail races in Eastern Iowa for the better part of 20 years, and have been active leaders in the running community longer than that! This will not only make the runners race day experience better, but the Race Directors too!

We have already been exploring the trails this spring, and want to make sure that as we are just a little over 3 months away from our July 18th race day, that our runners have a chance to train on the route as well. Below is the link for the 25k and 50k.

Each year as race day approaches, people start asking about the conditions of the Spillway. We find its important to communicate course conditions to our runners. So, with 199 days until race day, Saturday, July 18th, 2026, the current Spillway conditions are as follows: Frozen.
We will keep you updated if conditions change before July.

Lots of our No Coast Trail Series friends have registration opening either tonight, or in the next couple of days! Make sure to get these races on your calendar! Registration for the 2026 Lake Macbride Trail Races will be opening on Valentines Day, February 14th, 2026, and race day will be on Saturday, July 18th, 2026!

2026 is right around the corner and we've got a handful of NCTS races who have registration open already, opening at midnight or shortly after!

We'll have our 2026 announcement going up in the next week or so outlining a finalized series schedule for the year as well as any updates for the new year. Series signup will be available at that time as well.

12 years of the No Coast Trail Series have come and gone and it's incredible to think about the evolution of the series from year one to where we are today. As the year winds to a close, we're left with another year's worth of amazing memories shared with this incredible COMMUNITY of trail people and we are happy.

THIRTEEN local races with 332 different distances available made for our most robust schedule to date with amazing trail race opportunities ranging from 5k to 100 miles!

Amazing job to all No Coast participants this year and special congratulations to all of the division award winners! On the team side, the Trash Pandas battled hard all year and came together in a beautiful show of teamwork to usurp the reigning QC-TUR(d) champs! The TP camaraderie that formed through the year was an absolute treat to witness and they certainly worked hard and earned the NCTS club trophy this year!

A huge thank you to all of the hard working race organizers this year with the biggest thanks reserved for the incredible volunteers who consistently step up to ensure the preservation of our little community. THANK YOU!!!
