For 15 years, the Monterey County Veterans Day Parade has proudly honored the men and women who have served our country with courage, sacrifice, and dedication.

As we prepare for our 15th Annual Parade in 2026, we are inviting our community to be part of this milestone year in a special way.

For the first time, the public may submit nominations for our 2026 Grand Marshal, recognizing a local veteran whose service and contributions deserve to be celebrated during this year’s event.

Do you know a Monterey County veteran whose story should be recognized? We encourage you to nominate them.

Eligibility:
• Current Monterey County resident
• U.S. military veteran
• Has not previously served as Grand Marshal

Nominations close April 30, 2026.

Help us honor someone who represents the true spirit of service, leadership, and community.

Congratulations to my sister Sylvia Virrueta Wilson for receiving the prestigious Jack Stewart award last night! This award is giving to a civilian who dedicates their time and effort towards military programs. She has been the backbone of the Monterey County Veterans Day Parade Committee since the beginning. Behind the scenes she leads in organizing meetings, fundraising, and the parade itself. She comes from a military family so Red, White, and Blue runs in her veins🇺🇸

Good evening everyone,

I hope you’re all doing well on this Friday evening.

After a lot of prayers and careful consideration we have decided to cancel the Salute to Veterans event scheduled for Veterans Day.

This decision does not come lightly and ultimately driven by multiple factors that affect our ability to host a meaningful and well-organized event.

Such as, overlapping community celebrations and some personal circumstances. Cancelling now will prevent ongoing resource strain and potential disappointment for participants and community.

Thank you so much to all of you for your time and commitment to try to make this event happen. Your hard work and dedication does not go unnoticed🇺🇸

We will be hosting a custom car show with trophies, live band, live performances, DJ, live mock swear in for future service members from all branches, a variety of food trucks. For our Veteran community we ask you to go to our website and nominate your distinguished Veteran candidate who will be selected to speak at our opening ceremonies. Lastly and mostly importantly we want our community to participate in our (trunks of valor). Come out and decorate your vehicle honoring your Veteran family member or loved one.

We are proud to announce we will celebrate Veterans Day this November with a variety of events at the train station parking lot in Salinas. We will have a DJ, live band, a mock swear in of future service members, trunks of valor (where you decorate your trunk with memorabilia of your Veteran family member), and more. The Veterans Day Parade Committee would like to regretfully inform you that there will be no parade this November. After much consideration, we have decided to take a pause this year to regroup and plan for an event stronger celebration in the future. We deeply appreciate the support and enthusiasm from our community, veterans, and volunteers over the years. This break will allow us to focus on enhancing the events impact and ensuring it continues to honor our Veterans with the respect and recognition they deserve. Thank you for understanding and continued support. We look forward to coming back refreshed and ready to celebrate next year.
