I havenโt posted on here in awhile. Here is a little recap of the 2018 season. Started out slow at snowbash. We had a few problems with the 1000. Had a bad tether. The power kept going in and out. Thanks to Johnny Davis jr for finding that issue for us. Also the drivers were slipping around the track all weekend and ended up ruining the track. With all those issues we still ended up making the final and placing 3rd in 1000 improved. The 800 was running decent and ended up pulling out a 3 rd in 800 improved.
So with the Oneida lake race coming the following weekend we didnโt have time to fix the 1000. So we worked all week on the skid of the 800. We came up with some new things to try to get the 60โ down. We loaded up and headed to Oneida lake. The first pass down the track the sled spun real bad. We made a few adjustments to the skid and by the end of the day the sled came around nice and we ended up winning the class. Think it ran a 5.04 in the final.
Next was on to Epping. We worked all week on the 1000 getting it ready for the biggest race in the east. We had to put in new drivers, stud a track, and wire In a new Tether. We were In the shop every night til about 11. Every day I kept telling Jamie and my oldest son Jake weโre going to take this shootout in Epping. I knew once we got the track set up right she was going to fly. All the work was done and off we went. This is the biggest race we go to (45,000 people attend this race) and we were ready. Felt real good knowing we had the sleds dialed in. We ended up qualifying 1 for the shootout, 2nd for imp 1000, and some where mid pack (maybe 6 or 7) with the 800. So Saturday started out great. We won the 1000 n/a shootout. On Sunday we ended up winning 1000 imp and came in 2nd with the 800. What a great weekend. Probably the best weekend of racing we have ever had.
The last race of the yr was at Seneca falls. The harpoon 500. We felt pretty confident going to this race. This is basically our home track. We test here a couple times a yr. we ended up making the final and bringing home the win with the 1000. Sled ran a 4.77 in the final. The 800 was running pretty good also. Ran a couple 5.0โs. But ended up facing Johnny Davis jr in the semifinals. He was running about a tenth faster. so I had to try to find something. Ended up pushing the tree and red lightning.
This was probably one of our best years of racing we have had. The guys busted there ass at every race. Epping was brutal with all that mud. Thanks guys. Dad, Jamie, BK, Brian, my wife and 2 boys Jake and Evan. As always couldnโt do it with out ya. Thanks Landon Benoit for the awesome power. Woody traction your the best. Also thanks to Ingles performance. Looking forward to 2019. Big plans. Maybe starting a new project.
