I'm thrilled to announce my candidacy for reelection as your Sheriff! Since I first took office in November 2006, we've achieved remarkable progress. Over the past 20 years, violent crime in our county has plummeted, thanks to our dedicated team and the unwavering support of our community. Wicomico County is safer today than ever before, and I'm committed to building on that foundation.
My journey has always been about service to you, our county, our state, and to our country. These partnerships make our county strong. Through extensive community involvement, volunteer work, and deep relationships with local organizations, faith groups, schools, and businesses, we've fostered a collaborative spirit that's essential to keeping our streets safe. From neighborhood watch programs to youth outreach initiatives, I've been hands-on in every effort to protect our community.
Following the kidnapping and murder of an 11 year-old girl by a registered s*x offender in Wicomico County, we immediately implemented Offender Watch, a national s*x offender registry to better track, manage and monitor registered s*x offenders in Wicomico County. I petitioned the state of Maryland to institute this system statewide, and I worked with state officials to make it happen. It is now being utilized in every county throughout the state of Maryland. Leadership matters.
On a national stage, I'm proud to serve as an active board member of the Second Amendment Institute in Washington, D.C., advocating for responsible gun rights, challenging court decisions on one's right to bear arms, and prioritizing one's personal safety.
As the current Executive Director of the National Criminal Enforcement Association, I represent the interests of thousands of law enforcement officers across the nation, ensuring their voices are heard in shaping policies that matter. Policies that affect public safety.
My commitment extends beyond our borders too. I've joined collaborative missions with the federal Drug Enforcement Administration to Colombia, assessing the he**in epidemic's impact on the United States while working to stem the flow of dangerous drugs into the Homeland. Following my attendance at the high-profile trial of El Chapo in New York City, I traveled to Mexico's Sinaloa Valley to gain firsthand insights into cartel operations, bringing those lessons back to strengthen our local enforcement strategies which involve the Mexican cartels.
My work to ensure that Wicomico County remains grounded in the Constitution and the law is essential to our county's future. Public safety is paramount and is threatened when placed in the hands of inexperienced and ineffective leadership.
Due to my extensive work on Homeland Security issues, and my position with the National Sheriffs' Association's Homeland Security Consortium, I was recently honored as the recipient of the 2025 American Sheriff Award in Huntington Beach, California, a testament to our shared successes. Leadership matters.
As a frequent speaker on law enforcement issues at the national level (including my service as a Fox News Commentator), on two occasions, I have held the position of state President for the Maryland Sheriffs' Association, where I advocated for best practices and resources for our fellow sheriffs and over 2,300 deputies across the state. Leadership matters.
As a lifelong resident of Wicomico County, I am deeply committed to this community as is evidenced by my 42 years of law enforcement service in protecting our Eastern Shore way of life. Wicomico County deserves continued strong and experienced leadership. I'm not done yet.
Together, we've made incredible strides, and with your support, we'll keep pushing forward. I humbly ask for your vote in the upcoming election. Let's keep Wicomico safe, strong, and united!
Thank you for your trust and partnership.
Let's continue this tradition of excellence.
God bless you all.
