🔥How comfortable are you with fire? 🔥
Winter is a great time to practice your fire skills! There are a few elements happening here:
-Teepee style fire well under way
-Wet wood around the fire to dry out
-Green branches on the left to create a smoke signal (if the scenario calls for it)

SAFETY: Remember to always check for burn bans before starting a fire 🔥 Have a water source to extinguish 🧯 Remember that paper products and green branches will cause sparks that can float down and ignite 🔥

If you have ever hiked in Washington, you have likely benefited from the works of the Washington Trails Association (WTA). This organization does incredible work to keep our trails usable through work parties - volunteers led by WTA do maintenance on existing trails (think clearing fallen logs, rebuilding washed out sections, lining trails to make them easier to follow) and create new trails too!
August is Hike-a-thon month and the Her Rustic Adventure team is participating. We hike, you donate! If you use and love our trails, consider making a donation today to support continued efforts by WTA. 🥾🏞️🏕️

Another amazing weekend, another group a incredible women!
Nothing beats laughing and learning with spunky ladies! These weekends bring so much joy, energy and always, always new ideas and understandings! I simply can't get enough!

WOW! What Outstanding Women!
When one of our own went down with an injury this weekend the whole group stepped up to ensure she got out safely!
There are so many complimentary things I could say about these ladies but it still wouldn't do them justice. I am in awe of their resourcefulness and teamwork - so lucky to have a network of these incredible females to go outdoors with! Thank you all for your great morale and inner strength ❤️

What does social distant backpacking look like? Kind of like an old time bank robbery 😆
Her Rustic Adventure Alumni events are still happening with extra precautions. Everyone has their own: tent, cookware, food, food storage, vehicle and mask.
Essentially, we all packed as if going on a solo trip, but still got to spend time with each other!

Did you know?
These pretty petals are Trillium! Native to temperate regions of North America & Asia, they are known for their distinctive 3-leaf and 3-petal design. Trillium take 7-9 years to bloom, spending the first year underground without even a single leaf!

Due to concerns with the coronavirus, the June Outdoor Essentials class has been CANCELLED.

Fear not though, three more opportunities await this Summer! 🌞

*To abide by social distancing guidelines July's class has been limited to 4 participants

The PNW forests are closed 😔 but that doesn't mean we have to stop exploring!
There are new recipes to try, a plethora of YouTube tutorials, house projects etc.
What is a new skill you are learning while in isolation? Or are you sharpening a neglected skill instead?? So many opportunities!

The first ever Her Rustic Adventure event took place at Snoqualmie Pass in October 2019. Four awesome gals came together to learn, laugh and grow! We enjoyed our fireside "classroom" and then braved the fresh snow to build shelters and navigate without a trail!

UPDATE: All 2020 Outdoor Essentials events will be held in Ronald, WA on the Eastern slopes of the Cascades.

All events are still on schedule. Group size is already limited to 6 in order to ensure everyone gets a quality experience. Additionally, the cabin we will be staying in has plenty of space for social distancing if that is still necessary this Summer 🌞
