Each person standing on the stage represents each conflict the United States has been involved in starting on the far left with Douglass Starr, representing those who died from WWII. Through the conflicts and ending on the right representing the conflict in Afghanistan. and Marine Corps Detachment Commandant, Scott Ulmer. Beautiful art honoring Congressional Medal Recipient, Michael Fitzmaurice. We are deeply honored to have the chance to recognize Michael J Fitzmaurice and his wife Patty. Equally honored to meet the artist and creator of the Michael Fitzmaurice statue, Darin Wolf. During the 2026-2027 Sculpture Walk kickoff banquet, Members of VFW Post 628 were blessed to join these fantastic people. Post 628 members attending were Diane Diekman, Commander Mark Winter and Adjutant Malcolm Haugen.

Roosevelt Air Force JROTC program receives awards from Post 628 Commander Mark Winter. An award was also presented to AFJROTC Senior Aerospace Science Instructor, Major Eric A Johnson if support of this well deserving program.
