This year at Hardrock, we are headed back to Grouse Gulch!

Shifting back to our routes (pun intended), the Animas Forks Aid Station is moving back to the Grouse Gulch Aid Station. This shortens the course by about a half mile, adjusts the distances between aid stations before and after Grouse Gulch slightly, and updates crew movements. Please see the updated course maps and information on our website, Link in Bio.

Please join Chris and Dan as they ruminate about the gear that they will, or will not, bring out for a loop around the San Juans. Chris has a lot of experience on the Hardrock course and Dan exists so they know what's up when it comes down to gear. Whether it's shoes, gaiters, packs or clothes, we probably touch on it in this episode.

Come be a part of Hardrock’s annual food prep extravaganza, where we make from scratch a pile of pumpkin pies, braise beef brisket, simmer soup and much more for this year’s run.

Led by Johanna Bishop, R.D. and Chef Robert Panas, we’ll be cooking up a storm in Greeley on Fri/Sat June 12/13 from at least 8a-4p both days.

Many hands make light work, and we’d love to have some Hardrockers past, present & future join in. No cooking experience required we’ve got something for everyone.

For those looking to fill a service requirement, these hours definitely count. If you are interested in joining please reach out to Brad Bishop via the link in our bio.

Hardrock is sad to learn of the passing of one of its founding members, John Cappis. John was the original course director of the Hardrock Hundred and served as the Board of Directors president until 2008. One of the pioneers of American ultrarunning, John placed 3rd at the Western States Endurance Run in 1978, the first year that event was held as a stand alone event separate from the Tevis Cup Ride. John also placed 4th overall in the inaugural Hardrock Hundred in 1992, running start to finish with his longtime friend and fellow board member, Charlie Thorn. In 1996, John was honored with the prestigious Mother Lode Award for his significant contributions to the Hardrock community, and in 2025 he was inducted into the Hardrock Hall of Fame. John Cappis epitomized the Hardrock slogan “Wild and Tough.” His spirit remains in the course he helped create and in the hearts of all Hardrockers.
