Mark your calendars and join us for the 10th Annual Memorial Day Picnic. The House will be open for tours, and don’t miss the antique and vintage china silent auction there as well. Outside, there will be arts and crafts, plants, sweet treats, and informational booths.

A ceremony honoring our military begins at 11:30 am. Following will be lots of great music, food, and fun.

The Bachman-McCoy House will be open for tours and don’t miss the antique and vintage china silent auction there as well. Outside, there will be arts and crafts, antique cars, sweet treats, and informational booths.

Take a ride in a tractor-pulled hay wagon and stop by the Blacksmith Shop to learn about this important activity on an early 20th-century farm.

Food choices include hotdogs and hamburgers cooked by the Signal Mountain Lions Club, BBQ from Blue Sky, funnel cakes, and cotton candy. No admission charge. Hope to see you there!

We’re proud to shine a spotlight on one of our incredible community partners, Signal Mountain Nursery 🌿
Their generous support has been essential in helping us create our new Woodland Garden, featuring native plants. Partnerships like this make it possible to continue restoring and improving our community gem.
Owner Kim Bonastia says, “Signal Mountain Nursery is excited to support McCoy because we love that our community has such a great place to walk through gardens and enjoy a beautiful space.”
Help us show our appreciation! 💚 Drop a thank-you in the comments below and consider shopping local at Signal Mountain Nursery the next time you need a little green in your life!

April is officially Tennessee Native Plant Month! The designation was recently passed unanimously by both the House and the Senate.

McCoy is home to many dozens of native plants, and April is a beautiful month to explore the grounds.

Thinking about incorporating more native plants in your home landscape? Come be inspired! Visit the Pollinator Garden in front of the Pavilion and the Woodland Garden below the Serpentine Wall to see what naturally thrives in our area. All McCoy gardens are maintained by volunteers, and joining the team is a great way to learn more about natives and gardening in general. For more information, reach out to [email protected].

Please leave your thanks to our amazing Garden Committee in the comments!

DID YOU KNOW? The Bachman-McCoy House was originally a small cabin owned by a Swedish shoemaker and used as a supply stop during the Civil War. Nathan and Pearl Bachman purchased the farm as a summer home in 1911 (top photo). They soon expanded the main house and added an apple orchard and gardens, making it their year-round residence by 1924. The oldest building on the property is the barn. You can just see the gable in both photos.

Come walk through this historic home at the monthly open house on Sunday, April 12, from 2-4 pm. Learn more as docents share the history of the Bachman-McCoy House, farm, and gardens, and the families who called it home.
McCoy t-shirts, water bottles, Emma Bell Miles prints, notecards, and more are available for purchase during open houses.

Don't miss the 4th Annual Egg Roll on Sunday, March 29!

New this year, Barnyard Friends will showcase a Scottish Highland cow, sheep, goats, an alpaca, rabbits, a donkey, and a mini horse in front of the Bachman-McCoy barn.

Guests can add to their collection of dated wooden souvenir eggs, and each $10 egg includes an activities punch-card for the Egg Roll Obstacle Course, Egg-in-the-Hole, and the Bunny Hop Prize Walk. Completed cards earn a prize. Hot egg rolls, lemonade, cotton candy, kettle corn, and homemade sweets will be available for purchase.

The Easter Bunny will greet families, and children can enjoy the Egg Scramble, face painting, hair painting, and a sand terrarium craft. At the Bachman-McCoy House, “Easter Bunny Bargains” will feature spring-themed vintage china and accessories at 50–75% off, and docents will be available to answer questions about the farm's history.

No admission fee. Hope to see you there!
