Peter Lyons was the light of every room he entered. He will be missed and forever loved ❤️ it will be an honor to be in the room as this award is presented to his family.

The Bossier Arts Council annually recognizes a member of the Shreveport-Bossier community who has gone above and beyond in support of the arts. This year, the council is honoring someone who brought the art of joy into every room he entered! We are happy to announce that our 2026 Mover & Shaker Award Recipient is Peter Lyons!

Born November 12th, 1970, Peter McDade Lyons was raised on Scopena Plantation in South Bossier Parish and was known as a bundle of energy—relentlessly engaging, endlessly curious, and genuinely interested in people. Peter Lyons was a fixture of the Bossier Arts Council for years, not just as a supporter, but a true collaborator. As Lyons Pride Coffee he led coffee cupping sessions and cocktail demonstrations that turned into some of the council’s most memorable classes, always teaching with the same showmanship and generosity he brought to everything in his life. He showed up for events, large and small, and he made ARTini a tradition of his own, competing in, winning, and judging the cocktail competition across multiple years.

Peter was warm, kind, and deeply caring. He had a way of making ordinary things extraordinary and was deeply involved in his community, giving his time and energy wherever he felt he could make a difference. He led the hospitality committee for the Red River Revel, and volunteered with PACE: LGBTQ Advocacy of NW Louisiana, Shreveport Regional Arts Council's Christmas in the Sky, the Prize Fest Family, and the Shreveport Symphony Guild. Even outside of formal organizations, Peter gave freely of himself. He shared his knowledge of coffee openly—even with competitors—because he wanted everyone to appreciate it more.

Peter Lyons passed away on May 7, 2026, at the age of 55. The Bossier Arts Council will present the 2026 Mover & Shaker Award to his family in his honor at ARTini on Saturday, October 3, 2026 at Live Casino & Hotel Louisiana 🍸
