Artists: All fees charged for tattoos during the one-day event are to be exclusively determined between the artist and guest, and are NOT subject to charitable donations.

Artist registration fees, vendor fees, and general admission will be donated to local charities.

Here are the Contest Categories for the 'Day-of-Event' Tattoos:

Best of Show: Any style, color, black & grey, or combination.

Best Booth: We are looking for the best booth set up at the event. Be creative, unique, sanitary/clean, and be a stand-out among all of the other Artists and Studios.

Awards to be given for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each of the following categories:

Military & Patriotic: Can be color, black & grey, or combination. Must be a reference to a specific military branch, campaign, deployment, individual service member, award, or memorial; or otherwise respectfully honors and promotes American Patriotism.

Black & Grey: Any style or subject matter. No more than ten (10%) percent color highlights may be used.

Color: Can be any style, subject, or genre. Clean lines, vibrant colors, and a clear understanding of color theory in application.

Traditional: Can either be American Traditional or Neo-Traditional, which typically involve clean, bold lines, shading, and color. Any subject matter is allowed.

Fine-Line: Typically, only one color with no color-packing or shading. Very fine or thin lines are used to represent the image, regardless of overall size. Any subject matter is allowed.

NOTE: All tattoos completed during the one-day event that are to be entered into the ‘Day-Of’ contest classification, must be completed NO LATER THAN 7:00PM. All entries will be registered and judged at the Durff-Kuhn VFW Post 6168, located at 130 W. King St., Shippensburg, PA. Artists and clients participating in the event at the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post 223, must register their ‘Day-Of’ entries at the Durff-Kuhn VFW Post 6168, also. The award presentation will occur at the VFW Post immediately afterwards.

Hey Folks! Here is the latest news. The Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post 223 of Shippensburg has agreed to co-host the Ship' Stain'd Tattoo Fest. On January 17, 2026, we will have both the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post 223 and Durff-Kuhn VFW Post 6168 open to the public for this one-day event. All proceeds will be donated to local charities. We are now within three months of our event!
