With two large auditoriums and a stage, it regularly hosts films, concerts, and events, and is home to the Seguin Cine Museum. The Palace Theatre is a historic cinema located in Seguin, TX. The original Palace Theatre was built circa 1916, and then it was renovated circa 1928. In the midnight hours of March 25, 1946, a natural gas line explosion occurred at The Palace, but no one was injured. The
building underwent a massive reconstruction and rebuilding, implementing the most modern technological and luxury cinema experience improvements. A. “Windy” Daniels insisted “The show must go on!” and set up a movie screen in a tent in the Nolte Bank parking lot across the street and continued to exhibit movies each night. The restored Palace Theatre, with seating for 1,000 moviegoers, reopened January 10, 1947 featuring Art Deco design details. This is the oldest and largest historic cinema and theatre venue in Guadalupe County, where audiences may still enjoy a variety of shows, from live theatrical performances, to music concerts, special events, parties, and films. Look for special shows and talented touring artists to appear on stage at The Palace in the coming months. The Palace is also home to the Seguin Cine Museum on the Mezzanine level of this twin-cinema theatre. We're conveniently located in the downtown Historic District of Seguin. Excellent dining establishments, bars, and Seguin’s lovely light-filled Central Park are all within close walking distance.
