Curious as to what people would think if we had a show on the 1st or 2nd weekend of April or the 2nd weekend of December? Too close to Spring break/Christmas? What if it was a "Holiday Seattle Mineral Market" on the 2nd weekend of December?

I barely had a moment for picture taking yesterday, but I did run out at opening...there were A LOT of people waiting to get in! Every year the line grows. And the kids just stole my heart yesterday! They were so excited about the free rocks, the displays and the scavenger hunt. Thank you to everyone helping to make this all happen. Beautiful!

We would like to do a big THANK YOU and shout out to our featured PNW digger~Andrey Tokmakova!

Andrey collected and submitted this year's show flyer and Facebook header specimens: an autunite is from Daybreak Mine in Spokane County, and a realgar from Green River Gorge, King County, WA.

Andrey has been collecting rocks and minerals since he was very young. What started as simply picking up "cool-looking" rocks on beach walks slowly grew into a real passion, and over the years he has become very knowledgeable about minerals and geology.

His enthusiasm spread to the whole family, and now his parents and his little brother, Maxim, also share the hobby with him. With his parent's support, Andrey first traveled all over Washington in search of rocks, and later went to other states. Now 14, he’s still just as passionate about rock collecting as ever, and this hobby is clearly here to stay.
