Once again, The Movie Crush will bestow…

The Alex Sichel Memorial award which was created to spotlight female and non-binary storytellers focused on the deeply personal, often overshadowed moments that profoundly shape individuals’ lives. This award recognizes that this search for vulnerability is where some of the most artful truth resides.

We’ve lined up a fantastic jury to determine this year’s winners:

The Movie Crush is both America’s most intoxicating annual showcase of short-form cinema *and* a launching pad for the feature filmmakers of tomorrow.

Gabriel Gutierrez Morales has wowed Crush audiences at the with two provocative, Pride-empowering shorts: A CERTAIN KIND, a non-fiction portrait of and her efforts to create a safe space for all-inclusive p**n, and BOYSLUT, a compassionate, fictional exploration of a young man’s identity during (and after) an intimate encounter with an older man.

Since those screenings, Gabriel crafted a feature script, TIJUANA TODAVÍA, which he was invited to workshop last Fall at the Venice Biennale Cinema, has recently shot and is currently in post-production. We can’t wait to see it and can’t wait to welcome Gabriel (and !) back to Walla Walla next month.
