Today is the first month of Black History Month, and it’s our namesake Langston Hughes’s birthday! 🥳

Born on February 1, 1901, the renowned Black poet pioneered jazz poetry, with works like “The Weary Blues” and “Jazzonia,” as well as the newspaper column series “Simple,” which he adapted into books and a musical. A key Harlem Renaissance figure, he utilized his writing expertise to explore real-world problems, educate others, and tell memorable, meaningful stories.

For Langston Hughes’s birthday, Black History Month, and every day, let’s celebrate Black creativity and our many possibilities as Black artists and cultural workers. 👏🏾
